first review - Padron 2000 Maduro

I know, nothing special, but I wanted to take a crack at the review thing so here it goes:

I picked 3 of these up (2 for my friends and one for me) and they all looked great. After all the hype I had to try one, and I also thought it would be a good one for one of my friends who likes swishers and black and milds and things like that.

So a couple of days after I got them we all went out and smoked them. My burn was nice and even, but one of my friends remerked on how his was a bit uneven (though he thought that may have been his fault). The beginning of this cigar was a tad harsh, but quickly settled down to a nice and mild earthy flavor that kind of reminded me of a Macanudo (my friend said the same thing). At about a quarter of the way down I started noticing a flavor similar to coffee beans, and about halfway down, a cocoa flavor was added. My friends however, did not notice any flavors other than that same taste from the beginning. Towards the band a little spicyness set in, but it was nice. When I was done, an okay aftertaste remained for about 5-10 minutes that was similar to that first Macanudoish flavor.

I must say I had a pretty good experience with this cigar, though it seems as though my friends were just a little disappointed. For the price (3.40 or so) it was a great smoke.
I'm definitely looking forward to writing more reviews for even better cigars.

later~

Nice review basil! Haven't smoked the 2000 yet, but the 4000 and 5000 are good cigars. Glad you enjoy it.

Salud!

Nice review, Basil. I have always enjoyed the Padrons. I have found that they tend to start harsh for the first few puffs. The only way I have been able to avoid that is to light them slowly; toasting the foot and then slowly lighting them with the flame held as far away as possible.
