Tonight I decided to have one of the emperadores (belicoso) El centurion to celebrate my job offer for the place i've been interning.
The cigar cut easily and quickly but whenever I was doing my prelight puffs I accidently tore some of the wrapper. The wrapper was delicate and thin like tissue paper, which could become a drawback. The draw was smooth and yielded a spicy earthy taste. The smell from the cigar is that of a fresh habano.
Lighting was fairly quick and easy considering my torch was about to die from overuse. The initial puffs were strong spice and leather which gave me the impression of, 'I'm gonna get my ass kicked.' This gave rise to a cedar sweetness underlined with the spice. About an inch in it had some nutty coffee notes off and on. These all came and went but the most predominant flavor was the cedar. Almost reminiscent of that from a Diamond Crown Maximus, but more nicotine laced. At one point near the end it had a citrus twang like that of a RyJ PC. The ash was a bleached white with black streaks here and there. It ashed itself about 3 inches into the cigar.
Overall a delicious smoke, but could use some aging to mellow the flavors. The cigar seemed to smoke hot unlike other DPGs that i've experienced. However its manageble in short, small puffs. I'd give it a 7 or 8 because of the bitterness that i got trying to take 'normal' puffs. I'm looking forward to seeing how it evolves in the coming years.
