The Griffin's 500 (Pics)
This looked liked a quick little smoke. It was. Under 30 minutes. Thanks to Old Sailor on this one.
5 x 42 Prelight wasn't giving up any secrets. However, the first full draw told us what we needed to know. This was bitter and grassy. First thing I thought was was "sharp". The draw a tight, but good. The grass and the bitter went well together. The ash was a decent color. You can see difference between when I was drawing and when I wasn't. I was noticing bit of saltiness. It was hard to taste, but was there. I noticed more in the after taste. The ash was tight, but dropped without warning. The only problem I had was where the band was glued to the wrapper. That caused a piece of the wrapper to burn along it's edge. Not much changed with flavor, but it was good smoke. You HAVE to like bitter and grassy though. And this is where I end it. All and all a good time. Nice and short. Just what I needed. Product description from cigarsforless.com: Description: This small cigar has a yellowish hue. It has a firm draw and is hard to light. The smoke is papery, bitter and grassy, with a salty character. Item # GRIF-N500-N-25 Qty: Box of 25 Size: 5 x 42 Cigar Shape: Petit Corona Filler: Dominican Republic Binder: Dominican Republic Wrapper: USA/Conn. Shade Country: Dominican Republic Cigar Rating: 81 Last edited by Irons; 09-16-2007 at 01:49 PM.. |

The cutter, I have no idea. I got it at the local B&M for $10. There are no marking on it or the case it came in. I can check when I stop in tomorrow. |

Grif's always seem bitter and grassy to me also. I don't think it is a matter of aging but a matter of how these cigars are blended. They are just in the ok range...but not a really fun cigar for me.
