Flor de Olivia Grand Cameroon Review

I have to admit. I've tried the FdO regular line...maduros...and they are cigars I could smoke if I'm having trouble rubbing 2 dimes together. (Believe me, I've been there at many points in my life.) The Grand Cameroon is a step above.

PreLight: Decent appearance...very smooth looking for a Cameroon wrapper in my opinion. Smell? Ummm...ok. Not a very aromatic cigar. Good cap, for a FdO.

1st Half: Not so bad. Nice sweetness to this. Very different than I'm used to. Fair flavor--ummm...can't distinguish any particular flavors from this one. Fair draw...a little more loose than I am comfortable with, but it's not burning hot.

2nd Half: A little more bitter. Purging didn't really help. Lost the sweetness...but flavor is consistent--what I can discern from the bitterness. The draw became even more loose. Had to be careful not to puff too hard.

2nd Half commentary: I am a smoker that will often get distracted and will accidentally let my cigar go out. Relight was easy, but the bitterness was so overpowering that I had to throw the rest away.

Post-game thoughts: This is not a cigar that I'll necessarily stay away from...the price is just too appealing. I'll probably save these for yardwork, since I've grabbed a handful.

I agree with you 100% on that statement. I just finished up the same cigar this morning. The Grand Cameroon is similar but a bit deeper than the regular FdO in flavor. For the $3 range these are tough to pass on.

Found that the Cameroon and the 10th anniviersaries will smoke a little bitter new, but give em about 3mos in the humidor and they smooth right out. After six months they are a very good cigar.
