While I was away I had... Padron 4000 Maduro CAO L'Anniversaire Cam Robusto Macanudo

OK, as some of you know I was away for work for about a week on a little Island on the north west coast of Australia called Barrow Island (wish it was called Cuba ), I went their for work. Just for the info of the general population, Barrow Island is an A-Class nature reserve which Chevron Texaco holds a special lease for Oil mining, so unless you are going their specifically for Chevron you can't get on the Island, no visitors and no tourists, it's a unique place, seeing such an operation where people are mining oil and animals are running free and co-existing is quite an eye opener. Anyway while I was their I enjoyed the following:

Padron 4000 Maduro - This cigar was really something, from the moment I lit it up I could tell that this would become one of my regulars. The burn was even all the way down with a magnificent almost white ash. The draw was lush, not tight at all and filling the mouth with just enough smoke to enjoy all the flavours of this wonderful cigar. From the first puff it was smooth with a touch of sweetness and notes of coffee, during the last half it opened up with a woody taste which had some spicyness to it. Unfortunately the smell of burning flesh interupted my smoking experice as I noticed my fingers were on fire and alas my 4000 and I had too part company, all too soon it seemed. This cigar left a superb after taste on my palate which I enjoyed for sometime, quite often after smoking a cigar, even one that I enjoy, I tend to get that ashtray taste in my mouth. Not with this cigar, I was able to enjoy it long after it was gone so I'm sure this will become a member on my permanent list of fav's.

CAO L'Anniversaire Cam Robusto - I had high hopes for this cigar after hearing so much about it and reading about it in CA's top 25. The draw was good and the ash was a nice light grey, the burn was uneven, however I would detuct points for this as I was outside and it was a little windy so this is granted. However I found it a little harsh in the biginning so I think it may have needed a little more humi time, other than that the flavours of the cigar were a little dull to what I was expecting, some sweetness on the lips and a woodiness with a minute touch of spice, for me it was nothing to jump up and down about but I will get some more and let them rest for a time and see if I can find any improvements.

Macanudo Annual Reserva 2004 - This would be a nice breakfast cigar, the construction was very good with a smooth wrapper, even burn and good draw. It was very mild and smooth with simple tastes. Very light coffee notes, as I said a good AM cigar to kick back and read the paper with while sipping a nice cup of your favourite brew. Other than that their was little to it.

Well thats what I had while away soaking up the sunshine and working, overall a pleasureable experience... other that the working of course
Cheers
Jason

Thanks Rollito, it was hard work smoking them sticks man and the thought that I was getting paid for it just made it worse. I can tell you I worked up a sweat sitting on my balcony in the beautiful warm moonlit nights working out which one to smoke first
