Tatuaje Havana VI (red label) Robusto Review
I know I seem to review cigars that have been discussed to death, but I'm a relative newcomer and like to try cigars with a good consensus.
First off, after smoking this cigar, it has moved up to the front of my go-to line. This is a great cigar with impeccable construction and it smelled great after pulling it out of the humi after about a 2 month rest. I cut it clean with my Palio and the pre-light draw was just how I like it... not too tight but not loose enough where it feels like I'm sucking air. I've had some burn issues with previous DPG cigars, but I took everyone's suggestion and toned down my humidity to 62-65%. This and the fact that the outdoor humidity in Houston has finally gone way down may explain why this was the best-burning DPG cigar I've smoked to date. I've noticed that Pepin cigars don't burn as evenly as others, and I usually have to touch them up several times throughout the course of a smoke, but I would gladly trade this minor inconvenience for the taste blast. The red label is definitely a full-bodied cigar with a definite nicotine buzz. I probably couldn't handle it on an empty stomach. It's got a great pepper spice to it that starts out strong, fades into the background and then comes back towards the latter third of the cigar. This cigar also has a great cocoa (dark chocolate>)/coffee undertone throughout that keeps things interesting. After smoking cigars critically for several months now, I've noticed that I really go for the spice, coffee and cocoa tastes. I liked this cigar so much I tried to get some more at my local B&M but they are out except for the churchill which I think is a bit much. I definitely see a box of these in my future. All in all, this is my new favorite and to me, that's saying a lot. Granted I still have a world of cigars to explore, but it's nice to know that I can always go back to this one when needed.

I've been reading so many good reviews on these and I have yet to pick any up. I think I'm scared I'm going to like them and have to buy more

Re: Tatuaje Havana VI (red label) Robusto
Had a red label this weekend straight from the B&M. This was a great smoke even without any age on it. Will definitely be adding some to the humi soon.

Re: Tatuaje Havana VI (red label) Robusto
Hey great review.
A question if I may. You say this is a full bodied smoke, how would you compare it to the blue label? I found the Havana VI a mild-medium smoke where as I find the blue label a medium-full bodied smoke. But nothing accounts personal palate's. |
