Thumbs up Realm Perspective

I was turned on to this new brand by a co-worker last week so I decided to order a box. I bought the Perspective Torpedo box and smoked a couple over the weekend. The dark Brazillian wrapper and construction of the cigar was excellent. The burn was even throughout with a near perfect draw. Dimensions were 6.5 x 52 ring so it gave me a good hour of enjoyment. I thought the flavor was just right--the nice bold flavor of a solid maduro with earthy undertones and a hint of spice. It wasn't too harsh though like some maduros and I didn't have too strong of an aftertaste left in my mouth the next morning. I would give the cigars a solid 4 to 4.5 stars out of 5 and would definitely purchase again. I don't think the cigars have hit retail stores yet, but they can be ordered at www.realmcigars.com . I would certainly recommend these and will likely try the Reflection series next to see how they compare.

Yep... thanks for the review, and welcome to the jungle.

I wonder how a small company like this can get by without spending loads of money on advertising and/or making their product available to a larger outlet such as JR, CI, Thompson, whoever.

My guess is they'd better start sending out samples to get us hooked, or they'd better keep an eye on their day job...

Re: Realm Perspective

good review, can you tell us what disappointed you in the smoke, what didn't excite you or the points that failed to get it a perfect score?

Oh yeah, welcome, take some time to introduce yourself, read all the stickies, and have fun.

Really, not much disappointed me in the smoke. I personally like a really bold flavor in a maduro (a la partagas black label or an el rey del mundo robusto larga), but that is a matter of personal taste. This one reminded me of the Fuente line in a way in terms of flavor - but a little better in my opinion. I also tend to smoke down near the nub so it got a little bitter and hot at the last inch or so (but most smokes do). It is a really good smoke though in my opinion and I will likely buy again.

I like to try out the 'unknown' smokes if you will when I can and while I've found a lot of unworthy brands out there, you would be surprised at some of the undiscovered 'little guys' out there that don't have the marketing dollars or muscle. I was down in Panama for a month last year and didn't even know they produced cigars but found a local brand down there that was suprisingly really tasty. You just never know, so I'd encourage you all to take a leap every now and then and venture beyond the majors (you can always come back!).

Anyway, love the site and thanks for the welcomes. I'm an Austin, TX guy BTW.

Cheers!
