LOL, after rereading this thread it appears my reputation, however small it may be, is on the line with these! Kind of like a coach that puts too much money into one athlete that doesnt come through and loses his job.

I really like them, so I am waiting for your reviews....

Cheers!

I think the concept of "beer futures" deserves scrutiny......

OK, for every review that states "My god, altbiers was right on the money with this" you will receive 2 Black Gold 22oz.

For any review that agrees with my assessment of CFB, 1 Black Gold bottle.

and congrats on hitting 1000 posts today!!!!! I feel it happening soon!

Re: CFB PSD4 by Altbier

I just checked back on this thread (I didn't subscribe to it...ooops...!)

I'm still willing to give Altbier the benefit of the doubt and try one of these.
I've got a PSD4 that was gifted to me from a generous gorilla. I'd be willing to fire up the only one I have to do a simultaneous real-time comparison to the knock-off, if Altbier is still willing to send me one.

Normally when me and my friend herf together, we'll pass the stogie to each other a few times to compare our different smokes. That is what I'd be doing here, and I could give two people's opinion. In fact, I'll take the bands off and make this a blind taste test for him; and I'll report both of our findings here for us all. And yes, I'll be fair!!

Yup, that's right.......I'd sacrifice my one and only PSD4 in the name of science for my fellow brothas o' da leaf!!

Altbier, I'll PM you my addy as you requested. If you have enough victims (oops, sorry, I mean volunteers) then never mind. Just thought it'd be good to have a true blind test in this instance.

I just thought of something...........Wouldn't it be funny if Altbier sent out a rebanded PSD4 and the review came back negative!!!!!! (He wouldn't really do such a thing, would he????? )

Re: CFB PSD4 by Altbier

Gee, and I thought I was on your ignore list now Uniputt!

I need to see how I am going to do this. I have some ideas.

I am leaving to go herf in Florida for a week so nothing will happen until I get back.

What I have heard from other people
The color may not be accurate, but the tastes on the RASS, PSD4, MC2 are either dead on, or very close.

I am currently smoking a Trinidad Fundadores which is a very long skinny cigar and the flavor is excellent. I have no idea what the cuban version tastes like, but this is damn good.

Cheers!

Re: CFB PSD4 by Altbier

Got the PSD4's in yesterday. It was hot out in Florida yesterday and you could tell that they wanted a little time to rest in the humi, but I was going to have to sacrifice one.

In direct comparison to another PSD4 these looked very very close. Wrapper color was almost the same. The pack of 5 had a few that were not uniform, but they were very very close. The weight, wrapper type, cap were on all cigars was almost exact.

For those who were worried about construction you can stop. These are very very well made cigars.

Now onto the good part. The light and flavor.

On lighting there was a bit of grassy flavor. That quickly settled down and this turned into a very good stick. The burn and ash were better than most.
Onto flavor. To answer the question. Is it the same flavor of a psd4, thru and thru. Not quite. Is it the same flavor profile, yes. Does the flavor change and get better during the smoke. yes. Is this cigar/bundle worth it. Off the first one YES.

Interesting, and with some age it may come very close to an ISOM D4.

Nice find Altbier!! I'm going to order a fiver and try these out after a little age.

Re: CFB PSD4 by Altbier

I just smoked another one with a little age on it waiting for my wife so I can get on the road to florida, and damn it was good. Let them age a few weeks, they get better! The problem I am having is the MC2 and PSD4 are dying at too young an age they are so tasty. time to buy two bundles and let one age longer.

Cheers (off to florida soon, what is it with women and last minute errands?)

They don't recognize timelines or schedules -- the errand is just part of the trip, all one undifferentiated continuum. You're making the most of it -- i need to learn that -- i just get all pissy about it, and that doesn't help matters at all. Nor has it ever changed her behaviour -- go figure.

Thanks for the heads up on the new line -- i emailed Mike a while back after our PM exchange earlier. I have an assortment of 5 packs on the way. Looking forward to it after your reviews here.

Thanks
