Padron 1964 Anniversary Series (Natural) Review

I bought this cigar as a result of a special occasion. I became engaged a couple weeks ago and my fiancé took me to a local smoke shop and bought me my first humidor along with several cigars. The Padron 1964 Anniversary series was one that she insisted on purchasing for me to celebrate our engagement (she knew I had grown to love the Padron 2000s). Well, I decided to light this one up tonight after letting it rest in my 65%Rh new humidor. I was not disappointed.

This cigar blew me away. I paired this cigar with a glass of Pinot Noir (Indigo Hills 2001) which blended perfectly with the tasty smoke. The cigar lit right up and burned evenly throughout the entire smoke. The cigar held its ash for 2 inches each time before gravity pulled it away from the unburned tobacco. My pallet is still young with cigars, but I know what appeals to my sense of taste. This cigar did not disappoint throughout its entirety. The ash was a beautiful white and the flavor smooth throughout the majority of the smoke. The flavor did not change until there was about 2 inches left. At that point I could detect a little pepper, though the smoke never turned harsh. The pepper just gave the taste a new twist without any of the harshness that I have encountered with other cigars that turned peppery.

In closing, I am very happy to have associated this cigar with a very happy point in my life. I am planning on purchasing a Padron 1964 Anniversary Maduro that I will smoke the day of our wedding. Everything that I have read on these boards about the Maduro leads me to believe it will be as good if not better then the Natural I smoked this evening. Padron is quickly becoming a favorite of mine!!

Cheers everyone, and I hope for a great smoke to all of you here at Club Stogie!!

First off, Congrats on the engagement!!! That's awesome!!!!
Second, nice review! I have a coupld of these in my humidor that were gifted to me. I think I will also wait and smoke them on a special occasion. They look and smell yummy. I am also afraid to smoke them because I might have to get more!

Your fiance did that? You know....um....If things end up not working out, can I call her??

I always preferred the natural 1964's rather than the maduro. Great review.

Re: Padron 1964 Anniversary Series (Natural)

Congrats on engagement. I have a 25th aniversary coming up in October.

I purchased one of these last week on the advise of a FOG (I'm still newbie), have not smoked it yet, may hold til my 25th celebration. Always feels good to read a good review on something I have purchased, but not had a chance to try out.

I think I will have to sample one before the wedding (the wedding is over year away). I was at the Liquor Barn Saturday night and they looked VERY enticing !!
