Maroma Madruo Robusto Review
Some of you who know me know there's nothing that excites me more than a "good value" in a cigar. I couldn't find any information on the Maroma Madruo Robusto so, when the deal from Famous came up for 25 cigars for $28.00, I thought I didn't have too much to lose. They just came a couple of days ago but I pulled one out of the box to smoke on the way home from work yesterday. The rest went into the cooler.
This a pretty decent looking cigar with a dark wrapper. It seems to be constructed well. It cut well, had a good draw and, a surprise for such a low cost cigar, burned well from start to finish. The ash hung on quite well which I really appreciated as I was driving when I smoked it. The band on the cigar is bu** ugly as is the box. This is one cigar that would be a lot better off if it was sold bundled with no band. Smoking this cigar was interesting. It lit right off and burned well. All through the cigar, it had "bad moments" mixed with not too bad. The bad moments were harsh and, when I touched up the wrapper that I thought had perhaps fallen behind a bit, the burning wrapper produced a fairly acrid smoke. Then, the cigar would settle down and actually taste pretty good. It did this "back and forth" thing quite a bit during the first half. During the second half, smoking this cigar became a little more pleasant. Often, the smell of the smoke coming off the burning end was quite nice which made me think that with age there might be something there. My feeling is that this cigar might be a pretty good value if it smoothes out after time in the cooler. I didn't start out with great expectations for this cigar but there is a hint of a pretty decent cigar with this smoke. It will be interesting to see what some age does for these. WyoBob

Thanks for the review. I have been wondering about these for some time now. Let us know how they are with some age.
