Padilla 1948,padilla 1968 and Don Pepin El Ceturion Really want to know the strength of these compared to the tatuages or the DP Blues..? If I had my choice I smoke the Tat J21's, TaT Cojonu or Pad Miamis/Sig 1932the rest of my life...but to much dinero for me.. Anyone have first hand knowledge? thanks |

Re: padilla 1948,padilla 1968 and Don Pepin El Ceturion
I've had the 48 robusto, 68 toro, and El Centurian robusto. I love the 48. It reminds me of a nicely aged 32 with a little bit of a darker flavor. The 68 tasted very Honduran, and did nothing for me. The El Centurian was a really nice refined smoke, but not worth the price (IMHO). Strenth-wise, the 48 was not as strong as the 32, but was the strongest of the three, followed by the El Centurian. The 68 was mild-med.

Re: padilla 1948,padilla 1968 and Don Pepin El Ceturion
I had the 1948 this past weekend and agree with cryinlicks. It was a very tasty stick that seemed medium to full in strength. I can only compare it with Tatuajes and it seemed comparable in taste but not as strong.
I have an El Centurion in the humi waiting for me. ![]()

Had a couple of El Centurions this weekend for the first time. I love the BLs, and the best way I know how to describe the El's is they have the same flavor and aroma signature but without the slightly peppery flavor of a Blue Label. Yup, they are pricey, but I've gotta admit they became one of my favorites this weekend. - Garilla

Re: padilla 1948,padilla 1968 and Don Pepin El Ceturion
I'm bringin up the rear on this thread but, I just had a Padilla 1948 corona extra the other night. It was a wonderful smoke. The aroma, taste, construction and burn were great. It was complex, not as strong as the Pepin Blues or for that matter, most of Pepin's other cigars. But, it had spice, sweetness and a medium body which I found delicious.
I have not had a centurion yet, and I do not care to try the Padilla 1968 because it is not a Pepin smoke, and I am not a fan of Honduran tobacco. But for me, the 1948 ranks with Pepins best products.
