Lancero/Panatela Mini-Review #9 - Padilla 1948 Lancero

Wow! I really enjoyed this one, probably even more than the Miami 8&11 which is saying a lot.

Another nice looking Lancero made by Pepin Garcia for Padilla. Pre-light the wrapper had a slightly sweet flavor which switched to peppery when cut. Initial flavor after lighting was tasty tobacco with some pepper which changed to creamy with some spice and a little sweet overtone as I smoked it. This flavor was delightful to me. Draw was good for the entire smoke, producing lots of tasty smoke. As with many Pepins I did encounter burn problems requiring some re-lights. I think I need to start letting my Pepins rest a day or two in my dry box prior to smoking them.

If I learn to overcome the burn problem this could easily become one of my go to smokes. I intend to try some other sizes too. Any recommendations will certainly be welcomed.

Frank

That review makes me wanna buy a box of these. You described everything I look for in a great smoke.

Thanks for the review
