For a drink, I like to take Darrell's Coke or Coke Zero and splash in some mixing bourbon (Jim Beam, Evan Williams). You cut some the harsh alcohol out and add some sweetness that seems to help the flavors along.

Overall, I think Bourbons are great pair with spicey cigars.
Gotta agree. When I am indoors, I tend to have Jack and coke. Today I had a very nice Hoyo De Monterrey PC that a friendly gorilla gave me at a herf. Beautifully aged. I decided to have a nice merlot with some cracked pepper added. It was wonderful. My choice for pepper is the spicy bold from Penzeys (http://www.penzeys.com/cgi-bin/penze...ppercorns.html)

Nice review. A slightly underrated stick. I bought a box about four or five months ago and have about three or four left. One or two were missing the peppery pop you normally get from them but for the price they are a great smoke, whether you are just sitting out back enjoying a good smoke or want a nice golf 'gar.

The Bookers is forceful that the JW but has the same tendency to kill taste buds. If it was summer, I'd go for a vodka tonic, but it's not, so now I am at a loss. A good sipping tequila may be the way to go.

What say the masses? What's a good drink for this stick, bearing in mind that I'll be herfing outside in 50 degree weather but hopefully without any wind (I'm very well protected from rain)?
A mild single malt is pretty good. I'll take The Glenlivet French Oak, splash a little water in the tumbler and then turn it upside down, put in a finger and have a sip or two every few minutes. Dr. Pepper is pretty good, too.

Cracked pepper in the wine? That's a new one on me. Do you do one turn of the mill or what?

I smoked one of these last night with a decent cabernet. For me, the wine opened up the spice in the stick. The middle third was the best.

Depends on your tastes and the wine. For people who haven't tried it before, I usually start with a small amount and then work up. So maybe a quarter turn, see if you like it, repeat.

Great review. I've had many of the orange label (Rocky Patel) and really like them. I just received a 5-pac of the purple label (graycliff) that I'm looking forward to trying and now I better try the yellow also. For a drink, can't beat Knob Creek, straight up.
