CI Legends Series: Yellow Label (Don Pepin Garcia) Review
Last night I decided to have a CI Legend series yellow label. The blend is by Don Pepin Garcia. I will be the first to admit I was not expecting much of anything from this stick. I was pleasantly surprised.
The prelight draw was sweet and had the perfect draw. The burn was perfect, I did not need to correct the burn once. The smell was very nice and and it produced a big white ash. The strength was med to full with a med to full body, I got hints of leather and creamyness it had a good amount of Pepin spice all Pepin fans love. I smoked it with some Johnny Walker Black which might have not been such a great drink only because I started to loose flavors at some point, I think it was the Johnny Walker killing my taste buds. LOL. All in all it was a great stick. I'd consider using these are my "go to" smoke because of the great taste and price. Go give them a try, I think the Pepin fans will like them. |

Re: CI Legends Series: Yellow Label (Don Pepin Garcia)
Great review, Darrell. I've got 8 aging a bit in the cooler (gave two away) and plan to haul one out mid-December. I was thinking maybe some Bookers over ice, but might rethink that. The Bookers is forceful that the JW but has the same tendency to kill taste buds. If it was summer, I'd go for a vodka tonic, but it's not, so now I am at a loss. A good sipping tequila may be the way to go.
What say the masses? What's a good drink for this stick, bearing in mind that I'll be herfing outside in 50 degree weather but hopefully without any wind (I'm very well protected from rain)? |

Re: CI Legends Series: Yellow Label (Don Pepin Garcia)
I agree, it is a very good smoke. I won a 5er a while back, and after having a couple of them I have a box coming this week. How can you beat it for $2.50 a stick.

Thanks for the review.
Kind of sad I didn't pull the trigger on JoeCigar.com when they had the special.

Re: CI Legends Series: Yellow Label (Don Pepin Garcia)
Nice review Darrell, however I don't think the flavor shortage was from the Johnny Walker. these sticks do have that Pepin spice, but I thought it was like a Pepin teaser. I do enjoy these, but just wish they had a little more punch. Thanks again.

I agree that these are a pretty good stick for the price... I have found that you have to be patient getting through the first inch or so & then the flavor definitely improves.

Re: CI Legends Series: Yellow Label (Don Pepin Garcia)
Since I've been loving DPG Blues and even liking 5 Miamis, I really should pick up a few of the Legends Yellows the next time CI runs a special. Your review sold me!
BTW, I think Pepin cigars go great with http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/rochefo...10/2360/13665/ |

Re: CI Legends Series: Yellow Label (Don Pepin Garcia)
Sounds good. Thanks for the review.
For a drink, I like to take Darrell's Coke or Coke Zero and splash in some mixing bourbon (Jim Beam, Evan Williams). You cut some the harsh alcohol out and add some sweetness that seems to help the flavors along. Overall, I think Bourbons are great pair with spicey cigars.

Thanks for the review. Glad you enjoyed yet another cigar!
I've not tried any of the Legends Series so far, I may have to get a sampler!
