Cusano Corojo 1997 Robusto Review

I suck at describing the flavor of cigars, so let me just say this was an awesome tasting medium-body/full-flavor cigar with a perfect burn. I smoked several new cigars for the first time this week (CAO Black Gothic, CAO Italia Ciao, JdN Celebracion Consul, Perdomo 2 Milenario Maduro & Cameroon) all of which I really liked, but the absolute best of all I tried this week was the Cusano. It's got a reservation for some coolerdor space.

To help offset my poor flavor description I'll post a link to CA's review:

You can find these things for under $50 a box and they're amazing. These are replacing La Aroma De Cuba Coronas for me. They make those cigars seem kinda mild in the flavor department in comparison, and they're considerably cheaper.

Thumbs up Re: Cusano Corojo 1997 Robusto

I just picked one up today along with a Cusano 18. I like the 10th aniversary slightly better than the corojo but for the price, I would deff. agree the 1997's are a good deal. I don't really like the first 1/3rd of the cigar but it smooths out quite a bit from there on.

AtlanticCigar.com. Click on the Clearence section and navigate down to Cusano. Just placed an order for some Corojo Toros. I wanted some Coronas too but my Coolerdor refuses to grow larger. Stupid coolerdor.

Don't click on "Cigars" on the left panel, click on Clearance/Hot Items then find Cusano, the prices are listed there.

Re: Cusano Corojo 1997 Robusto

I just fired up the Cusano 18 Dub Ct. to savor with my cappicinno that my lovely wife prepares for me to enjoy each morning. caffiene and nicotine, a synergistic love as a gift from above. Anyways, as usual I didn't nessessarily like the first few puffs of the cigar as it seemed a bit bitter or 'medicinal' as I often hear. I think maybe my taste buds just needed to get warmed up because it grew into a nice tasting earthy smoke that went well with my cap. I lit this guy up with a match, which I try to do everytime as I've noticed a distinct difference in the way a cigar can taste when lit with a lighter. The construction is very good as is the burn, no need to relight it. A nice grayish ash with a dark black ring spanning the synaptic cleft where the butt meets the ash. The aroma of the smoke itself is pleasant and inviting.

I would certainly purchase a Cusano 18 again likely along with the Corojo 1997 which is a nice companion smoke. A corojo as a nightcap and an 18 to wake me up.

The corojo continued to increase in its affordable greatness the further down it burned. Although, once down to the last two inches, I did have to relight it after not taking a puff for only about 3 minutes. After letting it sit for about another 5 minutes I relit it with a lighter, which is a big no-no in my book and I was suprised that it still tasted very good and very spicy all the way down to the nub..

saludos

Re: Cusano Corojo 1997 Robusto

I got a box of toros and I got to say, they are even better than the robustos. I also got a box of the C10's but they didn't impress me. My next order will include a box of Corojo coronas. I'm expecting them to be even better yet, since if the bulk of the flavor comes from the Corojo wrapper and the sumatra binder, then the coronas should have those flavors dominating even more so.

Re: Cusano Corojo 1997 Robusto

yes....a terrific smoke.....i like them better when they are stored at high humidity...in the 75% range.....it just brings out more flavor to me while negating possible harshness.....cause these are very spicy smokes!

i get these on cbid for $43 a box.

I like the Cusano Corojo. Always have. Good full smoke. I'd also reccomend the killer cameroons. Stupid name but a damn good stick.
