Don Lino Africa Rubusto Review

Man, you guys got to try this one! Diablo has nothing on this spicy sucker.

Bought it at Emersons in va just cause I liked the look of the thing. Then I read the box, it said it was made with aged tabacco. Great I can smoke it one the way home right? Right! Well the pre draw was very good and hearty. The first puffs were very spicy, I felt it in the back of my throat and stomach. So I figured it would be a very strong smoke. Not so, very smooth almost mild at first, then medium. Tones of ciniman and leather. The finish was very long as the Africa built up to a full bodied cigar. Paid 5.75$ for it a good chunk of my cigar money but worth it. I will be looking for a box of these!

The Don Lino's Africa is a very rich, spicy cigar. I like to have one every now and then for a change.

The Don Lino Africa is a good, solid cigar with some spice and solid flavor. My only issue is that it's flavor tends to wear thin about 3/4 of the way through and doesn't really have that much dimension to it for a finish. It is a great effort by Don Lino, but I do not believe it to be the cigar it can be. Maybe some aging will bring this out.......only time will tell.

Glad you liked it. I've enjoyed every Africa I've tried, and suspect that with their super-oily wrappers they'll age very well.

FYI, They are made by the same company that produces the La Aurora line of cigars (most notably , the 100 Anos line)

Re: Don Lino Africa Rubusto

I think these are great cigars. Sean introduced me to them back in March at the VA herf. A little pricey for my tastes, but I have gotten some decent deals on 5 packs at Cbid.

Hey Jeff, my pleasure. Really glad you liked them. Like I said before, the only thing I have against them is the price.

Just saw some of these at the local B&M. May have to try one, although they cost a lot more here.

Re: Don Lino Africa Rubusto

I decided to take one of these down on Thrusday. Someone had described them to me as a little sweet. So I wasn't expecting what I got. I was in conversation and not paying a lot of attention to the stick as it was being prepared.

Then I took the first full draw, I was paying attention now. It was like getting punched in the mouth. Funny thing after getting punched 6 or 7 times.. I didn't hurt as much. Once I got throught the first third I really started to like this stick.

It burned good, nice and even. The construction was good despite me letting it get a bit dry. All high marks there.

Over all, I liked this stick. I'd probably smoke another, but I wouldn't get a box. In the words of GI Joe - "Knowing is half the battle"
