A NC that tastes like a CC.....it's happened!

For me I have never had a NC that tastes like a CC. They are distinctly different, ...until now. I just finished a Padilla 1968 (Robusto) that was gifted to me.
Wrapper: Dark, not toothy, nice cap.

Flavor: VERY Por Larranaga, but muted. It has that Cuban "twang" that we all love but not the "salty twang". Maybe a little to a lesser extent. Very sSMOOTH, no bite, great draw. I would bet if you were to remove the band, most people would think of Piedra ro Rafael Gonzalez, or of course Por Larranaga (twangiest CC IMO)

Finish: very nice and fresh on the palate as I type. Alot of times you finish a cigar and your mouth tastes like an ashtray with wet ash...NOT HERE!!

Overall: It had to be a "new" cigar because the '68 hasnt been out that long, but it showed NO effects of it ammonia-wise. I would rank this VERY high for those of who who "wonder" what ISOMs taste like. I am highly impressed with this cigar.

i've had a 68, and i agree. These are great smokes! i like these better than the 8/11. Very tasty, not as peppery as other Padilla's, it's got just a hint. recommended

Wow, I'm going to have to re-visit the '68. I've only had one and it left me quite bored. It was right OTT though.

Re: A NC that tastes like a CC.....it's happened!

Very nice review!!!

IMHO, the Padilla releases are more flavor-consistent than, for example, the Perdomo line. It seems as though the Padillas emply superior blends, or are aged more carefully than some other nameplates.

The Padilla '68 is not a Pepin, Ji. It is, however, a really good Honduran blend. To me, it is nothing at all like a cuban. The Miami comes alot closer.
