My first review - La Aurora Preferidos

OK.. Please bear with me as this is my first review.

Had one of these expensive sticks tonight. They cost $19 in Newport Beach, so I'll have to find a place to get them a bit cheaper (CigarBid, is that you calling me?)

The stick I bought was the Connecticut shade wrapper, not in the pretty shiny tubes, just the plain 'ol stick. Nice, pretty even burn throughout. The first half starts off with a mild, nutty taste but what I really noticed right off the bat was the aroma that began pouring off the stick. This cigar is no longer than about four 1/2 inches. It's a small stick - but the wonderful aroma that comes out made me happy I bought it. I found myself slowly letting the smoke come out of my mouth, and keeping my nose among it all. I even brought my wife outside to sit with me so she could enjoy the scent.

As it begins to burn to the middle, "fat" part of the stick, the flavors start pouring out. I was trying to keep track of all the flavors I tasted at this point. I tasted a lot of dark chocolate, mixed with some good coffee flavors. As I started to smoke the stick down to the nub (which isn't hard with its size) I began to feel this strong peppery kick to it. It was so hard not to keep puffing strong on it, because it tasted great.

The negatives:
Stick is too small
The shape makes it hard to hold when you're at the end, smoking the last inch
The price

I think if you're not too far down that ISOM slippery slope you should give this stick a shot! Overall, if I were to rate this stick on a scale from 1 to 10, it would be a 7.

For some of you more "veteran" smokers, you may not think this stick is all I'm making it out to be - so please just take this as my 2 cents.

By the way, I tried 7-Up with the cigar to reduce the nicotine kick in the pants, and it was great!

Good review. Shop around a bit, i've seen these for around 14-16. And try the cammie. Just a bit more oomph yhan the CT.

Thank you. It really is a nice smoke, good to have whenever, but definitely smoke it when you are able to take in all the flavors and aroma.

Nice review of a good stick. I keep several of these around and usually carry one or two with me when I go out. Usually has pretty good construction and great burn but just too expensive!!! I usually pick these up as singles or five packs.

For the cost of a box of these I can get a cab of party shorts or boli pc's and have the same amount of smoking time......just my 2

Where do you buy the five packs? Is there anywhere else besides the devil site to buy them online?

Excellent review. My local shop is having a La Aurora rolling event tomorrow...I won't be able to make it but the owner is a real good guy and started the special tonight so I picked up two of the big preferidos and two of the 100 anos robustos (got another of the preferidos free). I am going to give them a couple of weeks and then I'll post a report. Also, got 6 free fresh rolled ones from the event that I'll have to pick up next week - can't wait...just love those special rolled cigars.
