Montecristo White Robusto Review

I had been meaning to try something from the White line for a while, so I finally bought one the other day.
I was hoping for something great, since I've liked the Montecristos I've had so far, and this one was more expensive.

I smoked it yesterday and was amazed that absolutely nothing stood out about the experience. There was nothing bad about the cigar, no problems with construction or draw, no unpleasant flavors. But there was also nothing very interesting or unusual about it. If this were a $2 cigar, that would be fine, and I would probably buy more, but I was expecting more for $9.

All in all, I guess I would call it a "decent mild cigar".

I was also surprised that from memory anyways, it tasted very similar to a Monte H2000 Magnum that I had a couple of months ago, but slightly milder. Maybe side by side I would notice more of a difference.

I agree. It is a fairly good smoke, but WAY overpriced!

Re: Montecristo White Robusto

This is one cigar I actually think is worth the money. I had a very different experience with this cigar than what you describe. Some time back I ordered something from JRs and I was offered a 10 Robusto selection from Mendez Y Garcia. It included a bunch of RyJ's and Montecristos.

The thing cost 29.95 and included a $10 coupon for any Altadis box (I didn't know this thing couldn't be used online). So I thought great, that's like 2 bucks a stick. So I pulled a slick one by adding a bunch of stuff to my shopping cart and each time I was offered this sampler I accepted it until I had four of them, then I deleted everything else from my shopping cart.

Well I saved the Montecristo Whites for a good six months and when I smoked the first one I was in heaven. I found it full bodied with a citric like spice too it. When they were all gone I ordered a fiver of Belicosos and man those were good.

I been trying to justify a box purchase of Especial No.3's at $144 bucks a box, but I'm finding it tough being the cheap smoker that I am.

I also really liked this cigar its not one i would buy all the time because it is pretty pricey but i did like it. More of a $6 cigar instead of a 9 or so.

Dang! That's pretty smart. I have purchased two of the robusto samplers, which I really enjoy, but didn't think about your method to ONLY get the samplers. I also like (not love) the White. I like MCs in general and have tried most, but I don't consider any Monte first when contemplating a new (domestic) box, yet I always have some on hand. I don't usually buy the Whites due to price, but when I am buying singles at the local shop, most of the sticks in my hand are highly priced anyway. With the Afrique, I think the White is my first choice in NCMCs.
