Cigar: Don Lino Africa Duma
Size: 5" x 50 Appearance/Construction: It has a beautiful shiny medium brown wrapper and equally attractive band and a nice solid quality feel to it and only a couple of very thin veins here and there on the length. It's so attractive, one can only hope it's going to be as good as its appearance predicts. Where: On the patio at 67° with winds from the South at 25, gusting up to 31. Drink: I enjoyed it with coffee with sweetener and creamer. Prelight Aroma: I noticed a very nice tobacco aroma with a hint of sweetness. Prelight Draw/Taste: The draw was perfect and the taste was about the same as the aroma with a promise of something stronger. Light: I used by Ronson Jet Late. First Impressions: There was a bit of a bite and initially, a bolder tobacco taste than I expected. First third: The first half inch was quite strong and had a very distinct taste I'm guessing is the Cameroon used in the filler. After that, it mellowed out and while this prominent flavor remained, it developed sweet taste that I think was the same as that I identified at prelight. Second third: The profile changed only slightly here and I noticed some buttery and toasty nut flavors combined with mild spice and light woody flavor as well. I'd really like to know if this distinct taste is due to the Cameroon used in the filler. Whatever it is, I find it to be a pleasing flavor and would like to include it in my cigar rotation. It's quite different and a nice alternative to the flavors I've experienced in other smokes. Final third: The final third (sigh) the smoke became somewhat richer in flavor and I have yet to notice any pepper or leather in the profile. Whether it was due to the wind or my mistake, I managed to inhale a bit of smoke that about turned me green, but I quickly recovered. I don't know if it's because I've grown accustomed to the distinct flavor that was previously present, but it seems greatly diminished now and the wood and spice is notably stronger now. It self extinguished with a little less than two inches left, but after relighting it still had good taste. The last inch released a bit of a peppery taste accompanied the same in the finish and a slight burning sensation on my lips and the tip of my tongue. Ash/Burn: A fairly flaky mostly light gray ash with some tan areas as well, both colors broken up by black vertical cracks. The ash only held on for an inch to an inch and a quarter with the wind as it was. There were some minor burn issues that self corrected as well as a couple that required help from my Jet Lite to even it out. Final Comments: The distinct flavor, which I'll attribute to the Cameroon unless corrected by some BOTL with a more discerning palate, was to me very enjoyable, but I can understand how this may not be a desired attribute for others. The stick provided generous quantities of flavorful smoke with each draw. I'd give this cigar a solid 9 of 10. Price: I purchased these in a CI sampler of five of these and five of the Don Lino Africa Kuros for $25.00 and I'd gladly do it again even though I've yet to try the Kuro. The MSRP according to http://www.top25cigar.com/reviewdata...d=yes&pkID=640 is $6.24 and I may even purchase them again at that price occasionally. Burn Time: Lit 10:30 AM and left to its last device at 11:59 AM 1/6/2008.

Re: Don Lino Africa Duma
Excellent review and documentation.
I have a tin of the Kuros awaiting me and your review has only served to build the suspense. Thanks. The African, Mexican, Nicaraguan, and Dominican tobaccos are interesting combination.

Re: Don Lino Africa Duma
These used to be one of my favorites. I actually don't have any right now, but I would smoke them again. The only thing is that I had burn issues on every single Africa. I keep at 65% and my other cigars burn fine.

Re: Don Lino Africa Duma
I had my first one of these today. I didn't have a single burn problem. Very good smoke which I look forward to having again.

I really like these cigars. A little expensive at the B&M, but good deals can be found on line. Do it BroNeilson, you won't be sorry.
