Cigar: Taboo Honduran Sun Grown
Size: 6 X 60 Appearance/Construction: A beautifully shiny and rich looking medium brown wrapper covers a firm springy consistent core from one end to the other. I think these are very attractive and well constructed cigars. A few medium sized veins here and there in the length. ![]() Where: My patio at a wonderful 69° and 14% humidity, with an ocaisional wind from the SE at 7 mph. Drink: Diet Coke Prelight Aroma, Draw and Taste: Nice, somewhat bittersweet to sweet spice and tobacco aroma and taste and a very good clean but slightly filtered draw after clipping with my Palio. Light: Triple Flame fueled with Ronson Butane. First Impressions: I've had 8-10 of these, but still my initial impression upon lighting is very favorable. Full of nutty and sweet mild to medium flavor. The 6 X 60 is a fatty, but since I don't often keep them in my mouth for extended periods, I don't mind and rather like the size. First third: WIth many other cigar brands, I find I don't much care for the first inch. For me, with the cigars I've tried from the Taboo line, this is not the case. I like them from start to finish, but as with almost all cigars, I like the last third the best. The first third of this smoke is pretty much like the first impression, mild to medium body that's full of a sweet and nutty flavor. Mouthfuls of rich creamy smoke result from each nearly effortless draw. ![]() Second third: Here is where I pick up a few hints of mild wood and leather as well as a slight increase in intensity, yet overall the smoke remains mild and well balanced. ![]() Final third: In the last third, I notice a bit of a buttery and very slight salty taste chiming in with the previous flavors. Other than that, for me it's pretty much the same as the second third, just richer and more flavorful. The HSG stays firm to the nub and I've nubbed every one of them so far when time has permitted me to do so. ![]() ![]() Ash/Burn: The ash color ranges from salt and pepper to tan with a lot of variations of gray. The ash holds easily to an inch or better with minimal grace. The burn is good to excellent. Any problems I've encountered were minor and all but a few were corrected by rotation, others were corrected with the lighter currently on hand. Cost: I've seen these go for up to $6.00 elsewhere, but if you get them direct from Taboo.com they're about $3.00 a stick. Final Comments: These also come in a RG 58, but I have yet to try them in that size. I like the 60, when I put it in my Palio to cut, it stops at just the right place for a perfect cut, not too much and not too little. When I bought my first bundle of these, my intentions were to purchase a bundle of the original blend of Taboo Special Forces, but they were out of stock. I tried my first HSG while at Rob's shop and liked it so much I picked up a bundle. I never thought I'd like a "mild" smoke this much, but maybe they are more medium than mild? Never say never, eh? I've given a couple away to some associates at work, both liked them but said they were on the strong side for their tastes, so as usual YMMV. Another thing I thnk is worth mention here, I often smoke at a friends home when we shoot pool and he does not smoke in his house so we head out to the garage. I can light one of these, smoke an inch or so and leave it for 30-45 minutes and come back to it, purge it and it tastes just as good. I can't do that with many other sticks. I can't rate this smoke any lower than 10 and will, without a doubt, keep them in my rotation. Burn Time: Lit at 2:34 PM and dropped it in the ashtray before I could completely nub it at 4:02 PM 2/9/2008.

Re: Review: Taboo Honduran Sun Grown
[SIZE=3]Nice review on the Taboo HSG's nozero, and the photo's let you know exactly what this cigar is all about. I've been thinking about buying a 5er of the Special Forces Originals (currently out of stock), but may now be leaning towards these and the African Cameroon which look tasty as well. Thanks again for the great review...

Great Review. I have one of these in a sampler from Taboo. I think I'll light it up tomorrow. Looks like has a good thing going with his Taboo line.

Re: Review: Taboo Honduran Sun Grown
This cigar is incredible. Also had the Indonesian Sumatra from the sampler which was very tasty. I'm debating on whether or not to grab another sampler or just get some of the HSG's.

Re: Review: Taboo Honduran Sun Grown
Great review! I really like these as well but the size is a bit overwhelming (insert funny comment here). They were surprisingly smooth and could easily become a regular go-to because of the price.

Re: Review: Taboo Honduran Sun Grown
Thanks for the review. I have to agree with you on lighting a cigar. I typically hate the first 1/8 to 1/4 inch of most cigars. Even the ones I do like.
