I am smoking one of these in the shop right now and enjoying it a lot. I am having a problem with it though. There is a very spacific flavor that keeps jumping out and smacking me in the face. WHAT IS IT?? I can not for the life of me identify flavors...but I usually reconize them when I taste them, however this is a new one for me. What is the most powerfull flavor you guy taste during the first third of the stick? I'm a little over half way thru the Gran Robusto and I still can not figure out what this taste is.
Thanks.

I had one today.....and one on Monday. I agree there is a flavor there that is quite different than what I've experienced though I'm not so sure I like it. It's a chemical-ish taste that reminds me a little bit of what I taste with the 5-Vegas A's. Maybe it's because I can't identify it that it seems a little artificial.

Had another of these little guys last night. Great, spicy little number. Remains some peppery profile a lot longer than many smokes, which I love.

I was sad to see that they were out of the standard box of 20 on my most recent purchase binge. However they did have a box of 40 for merely twice the price...

I think you can imagine what I did

If you like fuller bodied with some peppery spice, this is your cig.

Maybe I got bad ones but the two I smoked out of a fiver were both so tight and produced so little smoke that I gave up and gave away the others. Maybe I should try again with a new bunch.

That makes me a sad panda. I hate tight smokes...my #1 cigar pet peeve.

So far, I haven't had this problem with these.

Re: Gran Habano Corojo #5 rothchild

Well this is a pretty old thread but I was going to post my own review today so I thought I would just add it to this one instead of starting a new one.

I didn't care for this cigar. I had it last night at the local pub (damn the NFL and Thursday night NFL network-only games). Perhaps because the cigar smoke was mixing with all of the cigarette smoke, I don't know. It didn't taste BAD, or like it was just a crappy cigar, but I personally didn't find the taste appealing. Don't know if that makes sense. I think the tast was a little too...sweet maybe, or too floral. The aroma wasn't doing anything for me either. I put it down after only an inch or so. (Maybe I quit too soon, but I was starting to feel a little sick)

The glass of Glenlivet 12 yo scotch was awesome, otoh!!

Oh, and the Steelers won. That was cool too!

The overwhelming taste I get every time I smoke one is.........fresh cut PINE! I like this, by the way, but it may turn some people away. It's the only cigar I've had with what probably should be cedary flavor, but is so concentrated, it tastes like pine, to me.

Re: Gran Habano Corojo #5 rothchild

HAd my first one tonight after 2+ months Humi time.

Loved the flavor, I didn't find it too full. I kind of lost the corojo taste probably because I am more used to the Nicaraguan corojo/criollo combination. This is the first cigar I think I have had with so much Costa Rican tobacco (filler and binder).

I had a major problem with the burn - it was pretty bad from almost the get go. Probably my fault, cooler said 70% rh, but I might want to get my next one in to one of my humis with a consistant 65%. The cooler is a little packed and this one might have been a little wet. I think corojo should be at lower RH's (65 or less) anyhow, and that is typically where I like all my cigars to be smoked.

I read some others had burn problems on this one over at T25, but didn't hear much about it here. Definately will give it another shot. Flavor was great 1st half, but burn problems killed the 2nd half. Purging brought it back to life only temporarily.

Great deal on these here for about $1.90 a stick --- very hard to beat that in value: http://www.famous-smoke.com/cigars/s...cfm/inum/21307.

For that price it's a definate recommend from me, I hope my next ones burn better.

Cheers,

BillyBarue

I've had a few of these gifted to me in the past, and don't remember any burn issues. They were a very good smoke though.

I am not a big fan... I thought it tasted a little off...but then I had also just finished smoking five other cigars that day prior to smoking the Gran Habano...I do, however, really enjoy their Connecticut blend...
