Rocky Patel REO Review

I picked this cigar last night from the top of my humidor, smelled it, and thought it'd be wonderful. It smelled awesome, full of promise.
I went for a walk and fired it up.
The first inch was absolutely horrible. I was trying to put a finger on it; "Burning Tires?" No. "Burning cardboard?" Closer. "smoldering musty old ***** magazine that the dog peed on?" Bingo.
I did everything I could to stick with this thing, I badly wanted to like it.
It easily goes down in the Top 3 Worst Cigars Ever.
I have a few more that I'll let have some age and see if they'll work themselves out, and I'll definately try one again somewhere down the road just to see if this was one of those flukes.
Maybe I'll age some in my cat's ass to see if that does anything for them.
Sure can't hurt.

I really enjoy these. You might have got a bad one or you're not quite ready for the strength that these have. Thanks for the review!

Re: Rocky Patel REO Robusto

IMO this is actually a very good cigar for the price. Are you new to cigars? I find them to have very little problems and be very tasty smoke. Maybe there was some other issue going on, because a lot of other gorillas like them:

I got five of these a while back and enjoyed them. I hope you just got a bad one - give it a another chance and if you just plain don't like them that's okay too!

Re: Rocky Patel REO Robusto

Wow. I like a strong cigar. Actually, I love a strong cigar. Strong, sweet, dark and spicy.
I'm looking for a winter home in Nicaragua.
This cigar was not at all strong. It was like a grass fire.
It seemed like it sat on the dash of someone's old greasy truck for five or six years, got yanked out, injected with turd juice, and sold to me.
Like I said, I have some more. I'm going to move them up in the humidor, let them sit, and try another one.
If it's even as remotely bad as the first one, I'm sending one to each of you guys for validation. You'll hate me forever.

Re: Rocky Patel REO Robusto

I have a bunch of these in my humi. I smoked one about a month back and it was OK not wonderful but OK. My biggest complaint was that the draw was too easy. The whole stick burned in a blink.

I only have 4 left. If you want to trade for something, I'll put them in the mail.
I like a Maduro. Strong, sweet and spicy.

I like the flavor, but the draw on the few I have smoked has been lacking to say the least.
