Sungrown by Rocky Patel Torpedo Review

Sungrown by Rocky Patel Torpedo.

Appearance: Goregeous, greasy, and streaky.

Construction: No flaws. Clean clip on the cap. Even burn. Flakeless ash.

Flavor: Full bodied with lots of tongue tingle. I swear I could feel my taste buds give a standing ovation with every draw.

Price: $6+ a stick per internet box prices. Although you can get seconds from CI for $40 a bundle of 20.

If you like JdN antanos you're going to like this. The flavor is very similar, only toned down a notch or two in the strength department.

If anyone has had the seconds, please let me know how they are.

Re: Sungrown by Rocky Patel Torpedo

Thanks for the review. I have really been enjoying Sungrown wrappers as of late and have been looking at these as well as the seconds. I have been smoking the Montesino Sungrowns and the Chateau Fuente Sungrowns. I got of bundle of the Flor de Ybor City Sungrown Belicoso's, but I have not smoked one yet.

I may have to pick up a bundle of the RP seconds and a 5er of the "good" ones.

Thanks for the review. I bought 3 of them at the recent RP event and smoked one of the Petit Coronas.. I thought it was good but tasted a little sharp and a little youngish.. I dunno, it may have been too early in the morning to enjoy it, I may try another as an after dinner cigar. Thanks again for the review, I can definately see a connection with the jdn's!

RP Sungrown are known around my house as "The cigar that got me hooked". I had a number of smokes before that, but that came with the hook line and sinker.

Re: Sungrown by Rocky Patel Torpedo

Are there two different types of wrappers? Because the ones I got today in the mail look like a brown natural colored wrapper while my B&M has ones with a black wrapper, looks like a maduro. The ones I had from my B&M were excellent, very enjoyable smoke!

I'm gonna let these sit for a few weeks before I try one.

I've only ever smoked the RP Sungrown after dinner, and have enjoyed every one of them. IMO its a great after dinner cigar accompanied by strong coffee.

Re: Sungrown by Rocky Patel Torpedo

I have these in the store now. I did enjoy the flavor, but the draw was a little tough on the torpedo I tried. I will smoke one this morning and see if was just aa fluke or if I was having a bad day last time I smoked. :P

I smoked one this morning. I liked it. THe draw wasn't bad at all on this one. I just felt the cigar lacked a bit of complexity that other sungrown smokes have. Might be me though.
