AVO Maduro Piramide Review

Hey guys...just wanted to post a quick review of this smoke I picked up from a B&M in Nashvegas, TN this weekend and smoked tonight herfin' with some buddies back in Florence.

AVO Maduro Piramide:

Size: 7x54
Shape: Figurado (Torpedo)
Strength: Medium
Filler: Dominican Republic
Binder: Dominican Republic
Wrapper: Maduro
Manufactured: Dominican Republic

Pre-Light:

Nice aroma and attractive, solid construction as the cigar holds it's shape well after the usual "gently-pinching-between-the-fingers" test. After a nice, clean cut, I'm ready to fire it up...

1st Third:

Toasted the foot and got this stick lit easily with an even burn from the start. As I've found with many torpedo/figurados, this shape is often-times tough to get a draw without cutting a larger portion of the end than I'd really like to...not this stick, however. From the get-go, the draw is literally flawless on this stick, and immediately begins producing plenty of smoke. About 1/4" down, I being to pick up on hints of cocoa and coffee in a nice toasty package which is maintained throughout the first third of this stick.

2nd Third:

Draw continues to remain flawless and the cigar has burned perfectly even to this point. Coffee flavor dissipates, but the cocoa remains with a sort-of toasted/leathery note following throughout this portion. Ash is nice, tight, and white/off-white in color. Still plenty of smoke flowing from the stick with each draw...

Final Third:

I'm thoroughly impressed with the draw on this cigar as it possibly has the best draw of any sort of figurado I've ever smoked. Burn continues to remain even this has been a very relaxing, maintenance-free smoke the entire time. The only disappointment is that this stick failed to maintain it's pleasing flavor throughout, as it became somewhat harsh about an inch from the nub. Never once had an issue with the wrapper as the construction was again, seemingly flawless.

Overall:

Construction: 9/10
Draw: 9.5/10
Burn: 9/10
Flavor: 7.5/10

OVERALL SCORE: 8.75 out of 10 (would most definitely buy again, probably by the box next time)

Thanks to all for taking the time to read this review, and I hope some of you find it helpful!

Jason

I've never had an avo. Might have to pick one up today at the local shop.

Re: AVO Maduro Piramide

I had a couple AVO maduro's when I first started smoking cigars and it has been some time since my last one, I may have to revisit this line.

Thanks for the review
