Cheap Cigar Review 04 Havana Classico

Havan Classico Pequeno
5.5 x 38
Dominican long-leaf with Connecticut broadleaf wrappers
$3.00 for 5 at CBid

I was a little disapointed right from the start. The picture used for this lot was of the Pyramid not the Pequeno. The pictures on the CI site show both but even the picture of the Pequeno (view 2) is a bit misleading. All 5 cigars in the 5 pack were vastly different in ring gauge, shape and color. Maybe this is typical for this vitola, I am just saying that the pictures are a tad deceiving.

That aside, on with the review....

This smoke has a very small ring gauge that tapers from about the size of a cigarette at the tip to about the size of a petit corona at the shaggy foot. They are very lumpy and bumpy and have quite a soft feel. The smell was pretty blah. The clip went well and the tobacco appeared to be a bit moist. This did not adversely affect the smoke but was visually remarkable. Prelight draw was smooth and flavorless.

The cigar lit easily enough and produced plenty of light blue-grey smoke. The flavor was actually not bad. No leather, pepper or floral nuttiness to be sure but not offensive in any way. The first third of the smoke was light and smooth but the second and third got pregressively more harsh. There was absolutely nothing commendable to report in the flavor department all the way through.

To this point I was not impressed but also not disgusted. Unfortunately, the problem with this cigar started to become more evident as the night wore on. The finish was not strong at first but seemed to build it's intensity over time. By the end of the night I had brushed twice and gargled as many times to no avail. The next morning I repeated the typical morning ritual of brushing, flossing and gargling but was getting nowhere. It seemed as though the flavor of the toothpaste and mouthwash was not removing the finish but just adding to it in some horrible way. While at work I drank several cups of coffee with the same terrible result. I can only wonder what my breath must have smelled like.

These smokes are officially rated BAD
