The Bolivar Cuban Alternative has a lot of flavor, yet it is poorly constructed and smokes in about 15 minutes. Good deal for the price. I hear the rest of the alternatives suck though.

From what I've had, it's a waste of money.

I like the Cuban Alternative to Montecristo #2. Also, the Excalibur alternatives.

Avoid the Fuentes and Perdomos.

I was younger and had some. Not a bad experience, the two acted much the same.

They blow from experience.
Do a search because they have been discussed here before. I think the only JR's worth buying are the JR Ultimates from what I have read.

Re: JR ALT's your opinion

There like playing dice. Sometime you win and get a good bundle and sometimes you lose and get a crappy bundle. Your also better off getting them when they first come out with a Alt. The bundles all seem to be good for the first release.

Re: JR ALT's your opinion

The Edicion Limitada alternatives are decent - I had a bundle of Monte C alternatives that was actually pretty good. For a little over a buck a stick, the bundle I got was good. Obviously I can't vouch for any others.

did not enjoy them at all. I have about 20 given as a Christmas "gift". Consistently horrible, harsh and bitter.

Re: JR ALT's your opinion

The ones I had were flavorless and mushy. Save your money for something better.

Re: JR ALT's your opinion

I picked up a bundle of the Montecristo C. I wouldn't say they were bad, but not great either. For roughly a buck a stick you could certainly do worse.

Personally I'd stick with the Connie #9.
