Cigar: Taboo Connecticut Toro
Size: 6X50 ![]() Appearance/Construction: A silky smooth lucious looking wrapper with a few small veins and a good firm feel overall. The wrapper looks very elastic, almost as though it was painted on. Very pretty. Where/when: After lunch, on the patio with Rocky and Zoe (you'll see). A partly cloudy yet beautiful day at 78° with 42% humidity, winds from the SW at 11 mph with gusts up to 19. Drink: Ozarka bottled water Prelight Aroma, Draw and Taste: Slightly sweet tobacco aroma with a very faintly floral hint. Light: Tiger single flame fueled with Ronson butane. First Impressions: Very mild, light almost airy and a little sweet. First third: Smooth and sweet from the start, then a very mild spice began to develop. The color of this stick closely resembles that of my dog Zoe. ![]() Or, do you think it looks more like Rockie? Rockie does not like to have his picture taken and looks away very quickly. I thought it was kind of cool that as little as four feet of distance and slightly different light could make the wrapper appear so differently. ![]() Second third: The flavor shifted here a bit to a buttery and nutty taste with a sweet leathery note. About half way into the smoke, the flavors kick up a notch and became sharper or clearer. ![]() Final third: This is where the profile changes to one more medium rather than mild. The leather note loses it's sweetness and a woody taste is picked up. No only could I taste the difference, but felt it as well both on my tongue and in my throat. The smoke is now much more intense and bold but still smooth not harsh. ![]() Ash/Burn: Salt and pepper colored ash that varied from loose and flakey to tight and fine. Perfectly even burn from first light to nub and the ash held to just over an inch and a quarter when I bumped it off. Cost: $5.99, but if you check the Taboo.com website you can probably find them for less. Final Comments: For me this cigar takes considerable flavor shifts from the mild beginning to the far bolder end, yet I enjoyed all the stages. I could push smoke out through my nose for the first half, where it just helps me pickup on different flavors, but during the second half, it burned, so I stopped Clouds of smoke, good taste and a few changes in the profile plus, a nice long lasting finish. I still had a very good aftertaste from this smoke 40-50 minutes later, when posting this review. I'd rate this a 9 out of 10. Burn Time: About an hour.
