Edge Lite Torpedo Review

This is my second first review here as a new gorilla.
RP Edge Lite Torpedo
As described by company... "Crafted for those seeking big-time flavor without the knockout punch, Edge Lite combines a robust blend of Honduran-grown ligero –– the same tobaccos used for the original Edge –– inside a silky Connecticut shade wrapper that’’s super mild. This wrapper tames the beast inside, issuing a milder, creamier blend but retaining the complex layers of flavor that made it so popular..."

0.0 - 2.0 = poor/inferior quality
2.1 - 2.9 = fair
3.0 - 3.5 = good
3.5 - 4.5 = excellent
4.6 - 5.0 = superior

1) Aesthetics: Another stick presented sans cellophane, in a 50 cigar box. (Smoked a couple of these that moved me to buy more, but this is a review based upon 5 smokes.) This is a great torpedo, I prefer the quick taper to the long taper... I love a Connecticut wrapper, especially one with few veins. This has a light sheen and is very good looking
Score for aesthetics: 4.6

2) Pre-light Construction: Another stiff cigar, very firm from head to foot and nice weight to it. This is a great example of a torpedo.
Score for Pre-light construction: 4.8

3) Post-light Construction/How it smoked: WOW!!! This was a delight to smoke. Held a tight white ash for a good 2 inches, I had to encourage it to drop. No tunneling. No touch-up lights. And the last one I smoked while outside yesterday fishing for brown trout in the Oconto River (got one, 27" and about 10# spawned out).
Score for post-light construction: 4.9

4) Flavor and strength: This vitole is billed as the lighter version of the Edge (I love the Edge Corojo for its full body). While it is true that this smoke is not the Edge, it is a wonderful cigar. It should be smoked for what it is, not to be compared with its bully brother. I enjoyed the living snot out of it. Mild??? OK, maybe. It may not be a powerhouse, but the flavors are complex and evolving. It has some light spice and some creaminess to it. I know this is supposed to be rated according to strength, but the flavors (don’t confuse this with labels like cumin [what???] and nutmeg ) just enjoy it.
Score for flavor and strength: 4.6

5) Aftertaste/Finish: This has a solid finish. Tobacco and cigar flavors linger tantalizingly, enticing you - "take another draw." But they don’t reside on your palate so that you must spit them out.
Score for aftertaste:4.2

6) Aroma: My favorite aspect of a good cigar is how it smells in the side-slip stream. This was a cigar that I couldn’t get enough of. How did is smell to others? Who cares, I liked it... that’s all that matters. Hey, I didn’t really like it, this was wonderful.
Score for aroma: 4.9

7) General Comments: I am glad I split a box of these with another pastor friend of mine. Actually, I wish I hadn’t... he doesn’t have the refined palate to enjoy these. I should have kept the whole doggone box. Dagnabit, I’ll have to order some more when these are gone. Or maybe, I’ll have to order some when I hoard the cash in the "disposable income fund" and set the whole box in the humidor till the rest are gone.
Yes, I normally appreciate a more full-bodied cigar... so what, sue me, I love this stick.
This is one to stock up on and keep on hand for everyday smoking.

Re: Edge Lite Torpedo

Nice Review! I still like the Edge Maduro better, though, and I believe it is cheaper? Thanks for the review!

Nice review.
I agree fully. This was very close to what I experienced. The wrapper tastes sweet on the tongue. Very pleasing experience to smoke these.

Re: Edge Lite Torpedo

Bought a fiver a few months ago. Finally stoked one up this aftn. Tasted great........ but the wrapper split almost immediately !?!?!?!

Smooth, medium bodied, but I prefer the standard Edge.

Re: Edge Lite Torpedo

The best cigar and my personal favorite. It might not have a lot of power but it has a lot of flavor. Very creamy. You gotta love it!!! Great review!
