Question Felipe Gregio Tres capas - A cigar you must experience for yourself!

After finally getting to talk to my doctor over the phone I am rather pissed off, as is the rest of my family, as she has dicked us around a lot lately and we havent been able to get our medicine. So I decided to blow off a little steam, or rather, a little smoke. The following is a review (I guess you could call it that) I found it very difficult to describe the flavors of this cigar. My taste buds could simply be malfunctioning as my higher brain function has been significantly depressed lately and my creativity consequently greatly stifled.. maybe someone else who has experience with one of these fine smokes will be better able to describe it. Enjoy the "review". I'll be pissing blood, thanks to this severe hemoraging in my blatter that I cant get medicine for because my stupid doctor is a quacky biotch.

Felipe Gregio Tres Capas -

I have been fascinated with Dos Capas for some time now. Dos Capas are also known as Barber Pole or striped wrapper cigars. They usually have two different wrapper types, for instance natural and maduro (to create a uniquely contrasting look) wrapped around the length of the cigar in a spiral. I was suprised to see this Tres Capas, or Three Wrappers, that was thrown into one hellacious bomb by Xmodius! This churchill sized cigar is decorated with three distinctly different and highly contrasting wrapper color types. A silky smooth light brown followed by an oily dark maduro and ending the trio is a lizard green candela wrapper.
The margins between the trio are smooth and masterfully wrapped.

The cap on this cigar actually possesses a triple crown like many ISOMs do. The stripes end at the crown in Candela so the cap itself is made of candela and the prelight taste is leathery with a slightly immature grassy taste but also has a slightly sweet side. The prelight draw is slightly tight but near perfect. I ran my flame a few inches away from the bottom of the cigar, up and down the entire length to draw forth any hidden oils to the surface and give myself a sneak preview of the taste. While performing this process and drawing in slowly the flavor gained depth and strength. I was tired of toying around with this cigar, enough foreplay lets get it on! I turned on some barry white (not really, I was blasting Nine inch Nails) and lit the stick up.

I should note that all three wrapper types hit the bottom of the foot and the burn will always be hitting all three simultaneously throughout the smoke. The taste of the smoke is unreal! Very smooth from the start. It reminds me of many Carlos Torano products but has much more complexity to it.The burn was a bit crooked because I completely SUCK at getting a good burn going. Hopefully one of these days someone can work with me to correct this and get a better burn going. I would think that if I happened upon a good lighter this wouldn't be a problem anymore. The burn is also a bit speedy and started producing a beautiful white grey ash immediately.

So much depth. So much complexity. I am scared to admit that I am finding a similiarity between the satisfaction and the taste/flavor of this smoke with the smoke produced by something that is only a part of my past life, a drug.. and not cannabis... However, hopefully assuming that not many other gorillas have wasted their lives like I did, I shall spare mentioning this similiarity.

This may sound strange, but the taste is reminding me of the smell of Turtle Wax.. The actual car wash not the product. I use to work there and it had a distinctly pleasant smell and I can find it in this cigar. DAMN! I think if I looked hard enough I could find ANY taste/smell in the world! This cigar has so much freaking depth its nearly impossible to pin point down any one dominate flavor, except GOOD!!!

By now I am only half an inch' into the cigar and I am already completely awestruck and dumb founded. I'm hesitant to spend the rest of the duration sitting here typing about the experience because I am at a complete loss of words. I'm going to take a break from this damned computer screen and just enjoy the cigar for a bit. If any radical changes or progressions occur, that I can actually identify and describe, then I will do so.
.

.
Now One inch into the cigar the taste has tamed down a tiny bit and a very rich medium bodied flavor is dominate. Its hard to describe it. i just.. cant figure it out. .Its really good! I am wanting to say that it is creamy and reminds me of Cocoa or possibly a mocha but its just to complex .. either that or my taste buds have shut down and I'm simply not capable of isolating flavors in cigars anymore like I use to be rather good at. I'm going to take in another puff and REALLY concentrate and focus and try to see if there is any identifiable flavor. I'll slowly blow it out my nose.. Okay, here it goes: Puff Inhale Hold Exhale... Damnit! Its just difficult. I tasted a slightly spicey, like a clove flavor but it was just a hint.. a chlorine like flavor was also present but it was nice tasting, unlike how it sounds. A sandy, sweet, spicey, dark, creamy, eh i just can't describe it.

The Felipe Gregio Tres capas is a cigar that you just have to experience to understand. I apologize if for some reason my papilea are malfunctioning and I simply cannot identify the blatently obvious flavors that fill y nasal cavities. Otherwise, give one a try for yourself and see what you think. Hopefully you will find it as enjoyable as I did.

I'm glad you like it. I bought those because of the unusual look. I like the flavor too.

psygardelic - thanks for this review, and thanks Xmodius for making the review possible. I've seen these cigars and was very intrigued - I wanted to try one really bad, but I wanted to see a review first (just in case it was another "gimmick" smoke or something like that)... But since you guys vouch for the flavor of this smoke, I think I'm gonna give it a try. Thanks a bunch!
