Punch Gran Puro Review

Took this one out of my box today, been trying to do a review once a week to try to hone my skills on reviewing. Well I sat out on my back deck with it, very firm cigar, not very long but a thick cigar. I lit it and pretty much had to sit down, wasn't expecting such a strong hit from the spicy overtones of the cigar. All throughout the smoke the peppery flavor was very intense, up until about the half way mark, the spicy flavor didn't change but for some reason I kept getting a very small hint of cinnamon. The biggest thing I liked about it however was the draw, almost like it wasn't there, very thick volumes of smoke. The only thing that had me a little concerned was that the smoke while lighting had a kind of black sooty look to it. Should have known right there something was gonna happen lol.

Overall I find it quite strong, I'm still a noobie to cigars so until I get a little more weight under my belt I'll probably be staying away from these lol

I have made it a rule never to smoke more that one cigar at a time.

Re: Punch Gran Puro

I like the Gran Cru better than the Gran Puro, personally. The Gran Cru to me tends to be harsh early on, not a lot of complexity and a little pricey. just my .

I'm confused.
Why then, do you like the Grand Cru better? Or did you mean to say the Gran Puro was "harsh . . ."?

Re: Punch Gran Puro

So weird...

Wife's at work, cooked myself a steak, look through the cooli, pick out a Punch Gran Puro I bought on a lark then avoided like the plague after a bad experience with a small maduro maduro.

So I light it up and puff away and am suprised because I'm really enjoying this thing. I decide to see it there's a review on CS and bingo.

My two cents...
excellent draw, smooth creamy taste (never bitter or acidic) that is going great w/ my Guiness, lots of smoke, sweet smell, even burn, great construction.

I'd give it an 8 and at $75 a box online an 8 is good enough to pick up a box next month sometime.

Re: Punch Gran Puro

I am not a huge Punch fan and I have never tried the Gran Cru. I do like the Gran Puro but I have had several boxes that varied greatly in flavor from box to box. The consistancy in each box was good but the first box was waaaay spicer than the second. I do enjoy this cigar ( mine were the sierra).

I found the second box to be eathy and nutty

Re: Punch Gran Puro

I should also say I'm not a huge Punch fan-with the exception of the Royal Coronation-the corona in the metal tube. That baby's one of my favorite of all times!
