Opus BBMF 2005 Review

Review number two of my rare cigar collection. I hope my followers like this one. This review is of the Opus BBMF 2005. I took a lot of pictures, sorry or your welcome, depending on your style. I could not help it; the cigar keep begging to be photographed.

To start, what a great taste.....WOW.

The first couple of pictures are for aesthetics. I really wanted to show of the cigars beauty.
In the container.
Up close and personal.
The bow tie.
Perspective.
I took this picture to show you that the nipple had an extra amount of wrapper on it. very interesting I thought.

The pre-smoke draw:
This was very nice. I could taste the spice on my lips right away. It seemed to give a spicy raisin taste, like the raisin cider you drink at Christmas.

The light and first draw:

The cigar lit very easily and the draw was tight for two puffs and then loosened up. The early taste of the cigar was spicy but smooth. It had the spice of a new opus, but not as overwhelming. The spice started on the center part of my tongue and was nice.
As the cigar developed, so did the taste. The spice started to smooth without diminishing, and the spicy flavor kept shifting through out the mouth. The spice would move from the back of the mouth to the center of the mouth to the front of the mouth. The taste was nice and changed constantly. The change in the spiciness of the cigar was one of its strengths.

The construction:
I will get back to the taste, but the construction of the cigar was phenomenal. I only had 2 ashes for the whole cigar. nice.

The taste went through three main sections.

The beginning was spicy and filed with a raisin taste.

The middle allowed the spice to mature and smoothen out and moved the spice around the mouth.

The end increased in spice without overpowering and left a residing spice on the lips and tip of my tongue.
I smoked the cigar to the nub and ended wishing for more.

The conclusion:

This cigar was very good cigar. It is definitely one of the top 20 cigars I have smoked. I would have to, finally, give this cigar a 10 out of 10. If you can get one this old, Smoke it and enjoy it. It was well worth the value of the cigar. What an experience. I also recommend, if you can, share the experience with a friend, as I did with cre8v1. Thanks for coming over.

Great pictures of a beautiful cigar. I don't think I could ever bring myself to cut and light such a masterwork. Glad it tasted as good as it looked!

Re: Opus BBMF 2005

Great review, Robert and thanks for letting me try it. I really enjoyed the smooth spice this cigar had to offer. Definitely not the "in your face" power that a fresh Opus brings to the table. It was very enjoyable cigar.

Nice one, Robert! You should've saved that sucker for me and the blind taste test. Geez what an interesting and lovely stick. How did you bring yourself to violate it like that? Yummmmm

Re: Opus BBMF 2005

I smoked one of these last Friday night. I was unimpressed as was the other person that smoked one with me. The spiciness that is usually expected from an Opus was very muted and the flavors were muddled. There was a nice nutty taste to it but all in all not what I expected. It definitely is not something I would actively seek to purchase.

I smoked a current FFOX Perfecxion #4 right after it that I enjoyed much more.
