Oliva Masters Blend Review

I got a robusto in my pack I bought at the Oliva event I went to last month.

First, this is a small cigar, only about 4". Very tightly wrapped, I had suspicions the draw would be off but I was so wrong.

Lit very well. Burned great, until the very end when it got uneven. Very even, almost perfect draw. Smooth taste, not harsh at all; a lot of cigars disturbe my palate but not this one. Tastes I can't really define, but I liked the flavor.

Another great thing - this little baby burned for almost 45 minutes, and I'm a fast smoker - most perfectos last me 20-25 minutes max. Unfortunatley Oliva does not make this size any more, too bad. I am going to try the next larger size, $9, and see if I like it too. This is the first Oliva cigar I ahve really really liked.

Re: Oliva Masters Blend

There is a new Oliva Master Blend 2005 out, I believe I saw it in CA.. I understand that each year they reformulate it and the Master Blend is used as the house blend.

I have an oliva Master Blend 2004 (I believe, JOE?) waiting in my humidor. Did yours have the cool printed tribal design on the wrapper? I'm really excited about trying it. This cigar is the only one that I've been able to hang on to and not smoke. I'm saving it for awhile because Joe, the one who gave it to me, said that they tasted a little young when he had one. (I believe thats what he said. i may be crazy)..

Thanks so much for the review, i've been really anxious.

Re: Oliva Masters Blend

I have had the churchhill and the Torp in the 2004 Masterblends. I love the torps. they are great in all areas, and i like the semi spicy flavor. The churchhill on the other hand..... The two i smoked knocked me on my arse. The most buzz hands down ever. The only cigar that ever gave me anykind of buzz. when i got up, i almost fell twice. Sent my last two out to MaduroFan (Bill) in the NC MAW/PIF.

I love these, and they aren't that expensive, IF you can find them. The boxes are beautiful too.

Re: Oliva Masters Blend

I was very suprised when I saw the price actually. Do these things taste anything like a cuban? All this talk of spice is making me think that it may have a pinch of a cuban twist to it.

Do all of them have the cool symbol printed onto the wrapper leaf? Thats the one thing that has kept me from smoking it already. I'm going to have to write one hell of a review for this thing.

Re: Oliva Masters Blend

I have never had a NC that tasted like a cuban. I have had some very good NC's though...some I have even liked better than cubans.

The best one i ever had was that very first torp. If i had to compare it to an ISOM i would say the spice was closest to a PPP, but its really hard to compare ISOMs and NC. The symbol is laser eched into every cigar to ensure its authenticity .

Hey, you're welcome, reviewed it since I didn't see anyone ever talk about them. Yes, mine had a laser tattoo on the wrapper, it was pretty fooking cool!!!
