Saint Luis Rey Reserva Especial, Rothchilde Review
Brand: Saint Luis Rey Reserva Especial
Type: Rothchilde Size: 5 x 54 Filler: Honduras/Nicaraguan/Peruvian Binder: Nicaraguan Wrapper: Nicaraguan Retail Price: $2.40 Appearance: Dark brown color and oils. One of the five samples showed a few thick veins but otherwise their appearance was fine. Construction: The cigar was firm to the touch and remained that way until the last 1/3 of the smoke. The burn was even and remained lit on all samples and all samples provided a good draw and an ample amount of smoke as well as a good firm ash. Flavor: This cigar provides a well balanced favor consisting of coffee, cedar and nuts on a medium/mild body (on the mild side of medium). Overall the flavor is very consistent but builds somewhat towards the end of the stick but it never got hot or harsh. Value: This smoke is a great value for anyone looking for a good medium bodied smoke with good consistent flavor. Are there better smokes out there? Sure, but at this price ($2.40) you owe it to yourself to give one a try. |

Re: Saint Luis Rey Reserva Especial, Rothchilde
Very nice review!
Haven't had a SLR for a few years, and I remember thinking it was harsh and tarry. Have to give it another try, see how my taste buds have changed in a few short years. |

Re: Saint Luis Rey Reserva Especial, Rothchilde
These things are ridiculously good after a year of chilling out naked in a 50 cab.

Re: Saint Luis Rey Reserva Especial, Rothchilde
I am going to repeat myself here, but I applaud the SLR line. I smoke the belicoso, but the flavor profile is similiar, but better than the Rothchild IMO and it can be had for $2.23 a a stick at cheapercigars. It ages very well just like the Rothchilde. As far as bang for the buck, I second the 50 cab advice. Lay down a fifty cab if you can-----$1.87 a stick at cheapercigars.

Re: Saint Luis Rey Reserva Especial, Rothchilde
When I get another tupperdore set up over here I think I just may take your advice, THE REV, and get a box. “Cheapercigars” you say. Thanks.
