Padilla Series 68 Toro Review
APPEARANCE: Beefy looking stick. Triple cap and tight looking roll at the foot. She’s nice and spongy.
AROMA/ BOUQUET: Robust scent…made my mouth water somewhat. SMOKE: Tons and Tons and TONS of nice gray smoke. BURN: Pretty even initially, but started canoeing. No big deal…a touch up helped. She caught up rather nicely. Got kind of flakey around ˝ way through. DRAW: Perfect FLAVOR 1/3: Very salty, but not over the top. I like salt! Initial detection of roasted nuts to complement the salt flavor. FINISH/AFTERTASTE 1/3: A touch of salt still remains, but not even enough to talk about here. Detecting some licorice and caramel between puffs. FLAVOR 2/3: Strange (in a good way) after taste around 5 seconds after expelling the smoke. I believe it reminds me of brown sugar. FINISH/AFTERTASTE 2/3: Kinda got the cotton mouth…maybe not entirely from the smoke. I’ll have some water now. FLAVOR 3/3: Got some hints of cherries in the final minutes of this dynamic cigar. FINISH/AFTERTASTE 3/3: Extremely long finish. The flavors are still coating the inside of my mouth and tongue. SUMMARY: A real treat! Rich and tasty throughout. A delicious mid-day smoke.

Re: Padilla Series 68 Toro
I would suggest a full-bodied lager. I was actually sipping Buffalo Trace w/rocks and they complemented each other quite well. The cigar actually brought out vanilla flavors in the bourbon!

Nice review. Spot on with the flavors, too. I got 10 of these off of Cbid about 3 months ago and only have one left. They have several great tastes in them.

Re: Padilla Series 68 Toro
med-full...but not strong, in the sense of intensity. Well balanced smoke.

Re: Padilla Series 68 Toro
Nice review. I just ordered a 5er and am hoping they are good enough to become a staple in the humidor. Call me vain but I kind of think the '68 label is cool as I was born in '68. Okay...I'll call myself vain.
I'm actually smoking my first Padilla Hybrid right this moment. I'm about 2/3rds in. The quick and dirty review is...not a terribly attractive cigar but not an ugly duckling. Pre-light draw and post light draw is nearly perfect. Tons of light grey smoke and a perfect burn with no touch ups required. Flavor is hard for me to pin down (not good with adjectives as the OP is) but I'm tasting just a little pepper and it doesn't last too long after exhale. |
