Sancho Panza Double Maduro La Mancha Review
![]() First off, I'd like to thank Tam for gifting me this very enjoyable cigar. As you can see from the picture this isn't a large cigar, only about 6 in. with a 44 rg. But it was quite tasty. I noticed right away some very distinct white specks throughout the length of the wrapper. I don't think it was plume as it didn't appear to brush off when I tried. I'm not sure what it was, however, it didn't seem to impact the smoke at all. Here is a close up of what I'm referring to. ![]() As one might expect with a smaller RG cigar, it was quite firm and being boxed pressed, it felt perfect in the hand. The cigar had a delicious maduro wrapper, that was a bit on the rugged side. It was a bit veiny in places and somewhat uneven in texture, but boy was it inviting. The aroma given off pre-light was sweet with subtle hints of cedar. As I made my cut and took my pre-light draw, this flavor combination was confirmed. The draw was also very good, not too open, but definitely not tight. The first initial wave of flavor still held the cedar undertones, but now also produced a rich coffee like flavor. A large amount of smoke was also produced with every puff. This cigar did burn a bit quicker than I like, but this is to be expected with a smaller RG cigar, such as this. ![]() I wouldn't say the flavor of this cigar was complex, nor was it spicy. Although there were a couple of times I did pick up a hint of spice, here and there (but it wasn't too much or too strong). The flavor stayed fairly consistent all the way through the cigar. The strength of the cigar however, moved from mellow to wow by the mid point. While never overpowering, the strength did intensify a good deal as the smoke went on; finishing much more strong than it had started. The burn was relatively even, and the ash was firm, falling off on its own about every half inch. ![]() I certainly enjoyed this cigar, as it was a nice change of pace from some of the larger RG cigars I've been smoking lately. While the flavor wasn't all that complex it was steady and enjoyable. With the flavor of coffee present throughout, I wonder if this would be a nice cigar paired with a good cup of coffee? Something to try I guess. I hope you've enjoyed reading this little review of the Sancho Panza...a very enjoyable cigar, please enjoy these final pictures. ![]() ![]() |
