Consuegra #84 EMS Review

I had one of these in my Humidor for a while. Did not know anything about it and lit it up. I was actually pleasantly surprised.

It is a pyramid 6.5" x54. It looked OK, maybe slightly veiny, but good construction with no soft spots. It had a firm draw, neither tight or loose, just about perfect. The burn was even with a fairly firm ash.

As for flavor, it was full bodied with dark chocolate taste with woodsy leathery notes. The finish got a little peppery, but by no means harsh.

After finishing it, I looked for a little more information on the brand and they are long filler seconds and overruns from the Villazon Factory. While this is the only one of these I have had, my prior experiences with cheap bundled segundos is they tend to be inconsistent. You may get some good ones, some OK ones and some dog rockets all out of the same bundle. It depends what was left on the blender's table.

I do not know if that is the case with these since I only had one cigar that almost approached excellent. I tend to like the other cigars from this factory (Punch, ERDM, HDM, Excalibur) so it does not surprise me that I liked it. But would they all share the same construction and flavor?

At $36 a bundle for the pyramid or $25 for the robusto, I would probably take a chance on a bundle next time I am at JR.

Great review. I think all blends and sizes are different however, I smoke the 73 Naturals quite often. I think there are fantastic. While you do get the occasional bad stick, for the most part with a bit of age on them there are great.

Keep up the good work,

Munt.

RGD has smoked probably 10.000 of the Connie 84's.I've had my share and would say they are fairly consistent.Great review!
