Saint Louis Rey (Honduran) Rothchilde Maduro Review
Bought this stick just to try it. Was in a shop yesterday looking for some Padron 1964 exclusivos (and found some too) and this cutey definitely had "curb appeal," so for a little over 3 bucks, thought I would take the chance. It is a very pretty stick and appeared well made.
I was going to let it sit for a couple of months, but later in the afternoon, found myself in a situation that called for a "shorty," but NOT for a fine cigar like the Exclusivos, so I pulled this baby out, peeled the ban off and cut it. Pre-light draw was mild and pleasant.
It lighted well and evenly and continued to burn evenly all the way down.
Milder than I normally prefer, it was a good cigar, that got better as it got shorter. It never got bitter or sharp, though it did get stronger. Never had to re-light and I smoked it down to an inch before I had to go. Standard Honduran aroma and taste, strong but no ISOM-like funk or Nicaraguan sweetness. I will defintiely keep some on hand for friends who like mild-to-medium bodied smokes. And I will certainly try another after I let some sit for awhile in MY box.
For value I would give it a 9! It is a good little cigar that could easily be a daily standard for those brothers just starting out, or for more experienced smokers who prefer 45 minutes to an hour with something a liltte milder.
That's my take. Thanks for reading,
Mike
