My golfing cigar day, with a Taboo SUCCESS and a Gurkha failure

Golfing Tournament this past Friday @ Bull Run Country Club in Haymarket, VA. A bit far out but still considered DC Metro area.
Excellent conditions, PERFECT weather. Nice chill in the morning and warmed up to 87 degrees.
Started the day out with a CAO Vision Prana. Had burn issues the entire time, but I attribute it to infrequent and inconsistent smoking methods.
NOT what I had hoped or expected this cigar to be. First third was blah. Only after relighting for the remainder of the cigar did it get ANY flavor. I got a bit of honey and leather taste.

2nd cigar around the 8th hole was Gurkha Centurian. Got a 5'er from cbid last summer and had them resting in the humi since. Nothing special, but bad draw in the beginning which opened up after the first 3rd....unfortunately SO DID THE WRAPPER. Dang thing just unfurled itself. I suffered through it for the next three holes and relit once more.

By the 13th hole I said "F*$% THIS! I brought a 15 count caddy for a reason!"
Tossed it, and lit up a recently purchased Taboo HSG Torpedo. I was STUNNED. This was the best cigar of the day, HANDS DOWN.
At under 1/2 the price of the vision and the Gurkha, this thing smoked better and had more flavor. I was actually sorry to have to finish the nub before lunch. It even helped me wallop two shots for our team to reach a Par 5 over water in two. Yeah buddy.

For those of you on the fence, jump in! Is anyone on CS still not trying taboo? I didn't think so.

Dude.....I love the TABOO HSG.......

I actually poked the knife on my Swiss Army Pocket Knife into the end so I could nub it. And I nubbed it right down to about 1/2".

Definitely at least pick up a fiver of the various types Rob has on the Taboo web site.
I'm eagerly awaiting my next golf day to try the other blends I purchased.
I'm STILL impressed by that cigar 4 days later.

Love me some Taboo and it sounds like a great day all around, even with the issues with the other sticks. Anytime you can spend extended periods of time outside while relaxing with cigars its a good day.

Got some Taboo samplers resting right now. I should probably take one golfing tomorrow after work.

Re: My golfing cigar day, with a Taboo SUCCESS and a Gurkha failure

I had a really dark, rough looking Taboo the other day. I think it was a robusto size...I bouth about 4 different taboo smokes together so I'm not sure which model it was. Anyway, it was a complete dog rocket. Tough to smoke and a foul strong flavor when I got it to smoke. It lasted exactly 1 inch before it went out and I didn't relight it.

Does anybody know which cigar I probably had so I can stay away in the future? I'm giving serious consideration to calling taboo and seeing if I can return these. Thankfully they weren't expensive if they all suck.

You didn't smoke it far enough to get into the best part. You came close!

Don't ever hesitate to call me. If I had known what you smoke, I would not have sold you this stick. That would be the SFO. It is too strong for most. A lot of people love them. Call me. We need to get you a different blend. We have 11 unique blends. You will like atleast one. Only people that smoke a lot of strong cigars like this one. This cigar can be dangerous. Also, let me know what you smoke and I can match you up with a Taboo you will like. No problem. A lot of people smoke this stick like it is nothing. Two or three of them and I'm on the floor.
Call me, Taboo will give you a blend that is more to your taste.
Rob

click the above review. SFO Robusto. Like I said, some people love it. It will knock most of you out.

This is the reason for having so many blends to pick from.
I love it at the end of the day. Not the beginning or while I am driving.
Gives me too much of a buzz. Love the flavor though.

Brother Chris (krisko, above) has been taken care of. What a great guy. He is happy. He is putting in another order.
Once again, Taboo takes care of CS

Rob took care of me...thanks again.

He explained that the cigar I had is very full bodied and probably quite a bit young. I may like it but not until it mellows in the humi. He offered to take 'em back but I'm willing to have another go in a few weeks. Sure enough I bought some more smokes and a lighter.

This is the kind of customer service that you just don't see anymore. Definitely an asset to CS.

Werd!

Great to hear that Rob took care of a CS brother that was a bit befuddled by his strongest cigar.
I plan on waiting a bit before attempting that Special Forces cigar.

The HSG's are great! Glad to see you enjoyed them.

The SFO's are great and yes strong - the Boot Camp version is the toned down version of the SFO - has a very similar flavor - but doesn't kick as much.

I'm looking forward to trying the Exotic Blend - have a bunch of those heading here (along with more SFO's and Hemmy Signatures - Rob's deals are great!)

skibum, so I'm visualizing a cover story in Golf Magazine that indicates "Taboo cigars helped me lose 6 strokes on my golf game, and it can help you too"

Since golf is mental focus a majority of the time, you might as well be smoking a good gar while your on the course too...
