La Aurora Barrel Aged Robusto Review

LA AURORA BARREL AGED ROBUSTO-

I did a box split with Houdini. When they came in today I couldnt wait, I had to spark one up!

Im not sure what I was expecting, rum barrel aged, maybe a flavored smoke? As this was my 1st Aurora I was expecting great things, I was not disappointed.

The construction was rugged looking. The wrapper was veined and dark with a strong Tobacco smell. Not a trace of rum in the pre-light sniff.

It took a cut from my Pailo with a razor sharp edge. No little tobacco bits to mess up the pre light draw. Im liking this stick already.

As I put the fire to it I would swear I was lighting a rock. By the time I was happy with the burn my Colibri was hot as a branding iron. Not to surprising that the 1st draw was a bit harsh.

Oh my this was a rich and full bodied smoke! Once I got past the 1st few draws it bloomed out rich and dark flavor with clouds of thick white smoke. Not a trace of rum that I could taste.

I think this will be the 1st cigar Ive smoked I would call complex. Up to the half way point I was getting dark chocolate and rich tobacco . After that it got even more full bodied! Traces of spice with an almost bourbon after taste.

I smoked this puppy till I burnt my fingers.

I finished this an hour ago and the finish is great, I can still taste the rich tobacco. And no doubt it was fairly strong, Im still feeling it.

There wasn't any rum that I could taste, just a rich full bodied cigar.

Im going to give this 8.5/10. Ill be picking up another box asap!

From what I understand these are oak barrels that many years ago were use to age rum.great review.

Thanks for the review! I can't wait to find the time to burn one. You made the wait all that much worse.

Thanks again!

I got in the split on the #4s and they are great sticks!!

I got the same rich flavor with a lil chocolate and a lil caramel!! so far there hasn't been a La Aurora product disappointment!!

Great Review!

Re: La Aurora Barrel Aged Robusto

Nice review, thank you.

Love the #4's. Waiting for them to come down a bit in humidity before smoking another.

By the way, The Belicoso got a 91 today in Cigar Insider. The Robusto and #4 each got 89.
