Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real Corona- too strong/young?

I have had these cigars in my humidor for just over a month. The problem is that I don't like them very much. Too much nicotine and the flavor isn't what I would call that pleasant. Do these age well? The construction is great and it burns well. It is a fine looking cigar and produces copious amounts of smoke, but it makes me feel woozy and the flavor kinda grassy.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Thanks,

CarpeDNA

Pass them off on someone else and start over or chaulk it up as a loss and don't buy non-Cuban R&J's...

I have smoked a few non-Cuban R&Js and they were good cigars, but nothing really great or special about them. In fact a few years ago I bought a box of their standard line nattie torps at the local B&M and ended up donating most of them to a company outting because they were just too bland for me.

Surprising it made you woozy. I would call these uber-mild, but the ones I've tried all tasted pretty good. Maybe next time?

I've smoked a couple I received in bombs that I thought were pretty tasty. Put them in the bottom of your humidor and revisit next year. You'd be shocked what some humidor time will do for a stick you don't start off liking.

For the whoozy smoke the next one with a sugared soda .. Dr. Pepper or Coke. The sugar helps counteract the nicotine effects.

I've smoked a few that I found quite tasty. I'd put them at the upper end of mild to almost medium. I've never gotten woozy from one either. Do like SeanGar says put them in the bottom of the humi for a year and then try them again.

I think they are quite tasty for a mild smoke. I try to always have a few in my humi as a morning smoke. They do age well. If you really don't want them, PM me, I might be willing to take some off your hands.

Ok, last night I had a CAO Brazilia Gol! and had no ill effect whatsoever. There was lots of taste and no wooziness at all and the CAO had been considered more full-bodied! Strange.

I have tried the sugary drink thing and that doesn't seem affect the cigar's effect in any way. I don't know.

I will I could weigh out a precise amount of tobacco, extract the nicotine, and read it in maybe a spectrophotometer after some sort of reaction. I bet I would find the nictotine content higher in the RyJ.

Good idea! You'd also need to account for the pH of the tobacco, which affects volatility and bioavailability. Marlboro was the first cigarette to artificially increase the cigarette pH, resulting in more nicotine in the more volatile free base form (increasing nicotine kick and addiction). I don't know if pH differences among cigars will do the same thing. You should be able to get a good reading on nicotine in an IR.
