Great pics and review. I've been curious about these ever since I got the latest holts. I may have to buy a 5'er now!

Nice review.

Re: Casa Royale

Nice review, love the pics. I purchased a 5'er from Holts. I'm not overly impressed with these cigars. I like the regular DPG blends better.

Re: Casa Royale

Thanks for the great review. Had my eye on them when I got my Holt's catalog a little while back. Gonna have to try the sampler pack and try them myself. I'm a big DPG fa so I have high hopes.

Thanks for the review, I've been eyeing these.

I love most of Pepin's blends but really feel they need a few months rest.

I agree with this idea. I love Pepin's blends and have come to learn that each are excellent smokes in their own regard; different than each other but, very good. So, I expect they will be well made, will burn well, will be spicey within the first inch, and will show complexity in the second and final third.
All of this will happen if they are given time to rest and relax. I typically wait for at least a month before I smoke em.

Re: Casa Royale

Had to bump this...

Lit up the torpedo last night (Aristocrat) and smoked every last bit of it.

Got the leather, the cedar...very tasty....even got that lemon thingy going on - which was different...a little vanilla - now we're not talking any of that "7 year burnt Madagascar Vanilla" crap...just enough to go WTF is that?...............Ah-HA!....GOT IT!

Overall, not a bad smoke - although the medium to full bodied rating is a little high - I would say a light medium to medium smoke.

Only thing that I can fault this 'gar is the $$$ - but y'all know I am a cheap bastid to begin with, and I love me bundles!!!

In my love it/like it/launch it rating scheme, I'd put it in the "I'd like to love it" category.

oh yeah...the hole in the 'gar in the last pic? that was from my toothpick...

Re: Casa Royale

Ordered the Sampler pack from Holts a few weeks ago, and let it sit for a week before trying one.

I enjoyed the initial spicieness , which then turned into a SMOOTH and very enjoyable smoke. I'm going to let the rest of them rest and try one every month or so.

Not trying to sound negative but I think these are a bit overpriced. I can buy Oliva, Carlos Torano and a few others for far less per stick. And enjoy them every bit as much as this one.

But we shall see if some time in the Humi REALLY transforms these into something remarkable.
