A newbie's first review: Carlos Torano Signature Perfecto Review

Since school is out and I am back in Atlanta, I'll be getting to try out some smokes that are not available in Tallahassee. Yesterday I had a Perdomo Habana Maduro which was excellent. I've had this Torano once before so I thought it would make for a good first review. I am going to blame the camera rather than my photography skills for the quality of the images.

The wrapper is a nice oily maduro. I'm guessing its the same wrapper as the CAO Brazilia because the smell has the same spiciness which I love.

The pre-light draw had no flavor except for a slightly earthy aftertaste. The draw felt a little tight, which was true for the whole smoke.

This is a smooth cigar from the moment it's lit. The burn was a little uneven at first but was fixed quickly. The cigar has a very earthy and woody taste with hints of nuts. The taste was very consistent throughout the whole cigar, with the occasional (subtle) hits of spice starting in the second 3rd. I got a quick hint of cream halfway through the second 3rd but it went away after a couple of minutes.

I noticed a crack in the wrapper early on and it started to unwrap a little towards the middle but fortunately everything held together and I smoked through it. Other than this, construction was great. The ash held on forever and I only had to ash it once for each third.

Overall, this was a good mild-medium with an extremely consistent earthy taste. I would've liked some more spice and the draw was a little tight, but I'll definitely try this again as well as other Carlos Torano smokes.

8.5/10

Nice review and you are correct! Brazilian Mata Fina. Torano makes them both.

The Signatures are a good blend. I like nearly all the Torano's (no big fan of the Virtuoso) and love the 1959 Exodus like candy. The Signature is a close second.
