Padron 40th Review

Well I got my job offer and my ship date for the Air Force today, so I figured I might as well celebrate with a nice cigar. My mom actually bought me this cigar for a birthday present last week, needless to say it didn't last long in my humidor. Gotta give thanks to Bobb for suggesting my mom get this stick for me, I was quite surprised when she dropped it on the table for me. So thanks Bobb, I'm definitely going to enjoy this one.

Clipped it with my Palio, and took a pre-light draw. Found earthy sweetness, with some subtle complexities that I couldn't quite place, and since I've started the cigar before typing this part of my review, I can't keep trying to figure it out. This cigar lit very easily, and the taste is phenomenal from the start. On with the review:

1/3 -- This cigar has a great draw, makes me work for it a little bit, but by no means is it a struggle. It's burning well so far, hopefully it'll keep that up. The tastes I'm getting already are earthy, but not in your face strong. It's a very subtle smoke, but its so flavorful and so complex. I'm still trying to figure out what I'm tasting in it. There's a nice level of sweetness to it as well. I'm really enjoying that, especially on the finish. I want to say the sweetness leaves a bit of a cinnamon taste, but I'm not quite sure that's really what it is. All I know for sure is that I really like this stick. A little over an inch or so in, and I'm thinking this sweetness is more chocolate tasting than cinnamon. Whatever, it's still awesome. Keep on burning...

2/3 -- Cigar still is tasting amazing, the draw got a little tight, but with some manipulation to the head of it, it opened right up, and I'm getting tons of smoke now. Very complex, and quite a bit earthier than it was at the start of the cigar. The sweetness is still there, but it's more in the background than it was when I started the cigar. It seems the strength/body of the cigar has increased for this part. The burn is still looking good. This is definitely up there as one of my favorites right now. I've just realized I've been enjoying some pretty good smokes lately... But this is right up there with the BGM I had for my birthday, and the Monte #2 I had a few days ago. I wouldn't mind having a huge stockpile of any of those cigars. I like them all for different reasons. But yeah the only reason I made that comment was because I was going to say I can't think of a cigar I've had for awhile that I've enjoyed this much. But in all honesty the Monte and BGM were both great smokes as well...so yeah... Ok done rambling about that... Just about to hit the final third, and take this to the nub...

3/3 -- Well the cigar seems to be building in strength the further down it burns. Very earthy and full right now. But I'm still enjoying it. It is still burning pretty well. I do believe I'm feeling the nicotine in this cigar a little bit, its been awhile since I've really eaten anything, but I don't really feel sick. Its more or less the good nicotine buzz feeling right now. Continuing on and seeing what else I can share about this stick...well I finished it, and I really don't have anything profound to addd. Let's wrap it up.

Conclusion -- I'm really happy I got an opportunity to try out this great cigar, and again I want to say thanks to Bobb for suggesting it. This is easily in my top 10, I suggest that everyone at least try one of these. They're great. Overall, 9.5/10

Re: Padron 40th

I like these better than the 80th and in fact enjoy them more in the natural. Kind of funny being this i the only natural I like when it comes to Padron I am usually a maduro guy..
