Romeo y Julieta Cedro Deluxe #1 (500th Post!)

I smoked this one in celebration of my 500th post here at Club Stogie. Bought this one at a local B&M for about $7.80 (a little high for this stick IMHO).

First Third: This cigar is wonderful. Very smooth and creamy. I can taste cedar and sweetness. Mild smoke (not too mild).
Attachment 18778

Second Third: This stick is not evolving like I thought it would. It's still a fine stick and enjoyable, but starting to become less flavorful. The cedar flavoris becoming stronger.

Final Third: The final portion was bland (IMHO). Sweetness and cedar flavors gone. Becoming a little peppery.

Overall this was a good stick although not worth the price. For a 500th post celebratory smoke it was workable and enjoyable (could have done better by far). I will definately smoke this cigar again and give it another go around.

I smoked one of these last night for the first time and pretty much agree with you. I don't buy many cigars in the summer as this is my "lean" time of year, so it's been in one of my humis since last winter some time. I think I might have gotten it in Jan.

Anyway, yeah, for a mild cigar it is enjoyable at first. Just slightly sweet. But like you I found it just doesn't develop much until the last third. The spiciness and pepper start out nice but very quickly becomes too hot of a pepper flavor for me. Mine also started to tunnel a bit and needed a touch up. Definitely not a cigar to enjoy to the nub. I tossed it with a bit over 2 inches remaining.

I'd like to add that the ash was really firm. It looked a little flaky, as if it might drop off at any time, but it was hard to knock off. I like that during long chess sessions when I'm more into the game than the smoke. But the lack of development makes it just a ho hum smoke for me and it is a bit pricey to become a regular smoke for me. With the recent new taxes I'm not likely to buy another. Call me cheap, but if I'm gonna toss 2 inches of smoke it would have to be an outstanding cigar.
