La Gloria Cubana Serie R Figurado 2006 Maduro Review

Hello my Fellow S/BOTL’s I thought I would let you in on my greatest task to date. While I was smoking yesterday a little 5x50 Partagas Black Label cigar, a man walked by that I have said hello to for 6months with no reply just a nod. Asked if I would be home tomorrow? Thought to myself “that is odd why is someone I don’t know asking if I am going to be home?” I said yes I would be home all day. I asked why and he said that he would give me a Cigar I would never forget. Only one catch. I had to give him one of my Partagas that he would smoke while I smoked the one I get from him. Then he giggled and said ok you better make it 2 or 3. I was thinking to myself OMG how big is this thing and was it a gag. Well today he stopped by with a La Gloria Cubana Serie R Figurado 2006 Maduro (7 3/4 X 63) I have never seen a cigar so big in my life. Almost 8” I have seen some that are 7” with a rg of like 44 or 50. Anyway I said I would smoke anything once as he took out a cutter and made a nice cut. Took out a lighter and toasted the foot gave it to me said to give it a few quick puffs while hitting the lighter. Man that was a monster. I let it rest for a few moments so I could take in the aroma. Had a nice draw and the burn was not as bad as I would have thought seeing the size of cigar it was. Now for some puffin I get some espresso and dark chocolate with a hint of sweetness off my lips. While I am smoking this monster I ask where he got such a monster? He said it was a Gift from his wife for making a new garden for her last year. Said it was a gift of 100 cigars in a special Hummi and some cigars from 2002 that were never released. Now I feel over joyed to be apart of such a great gift to almost felt guilty. Well after 2 and half hours of smoking this joy of a cigar the man parted from my home as I started to shut the door the man asked if I would like to try one of the 2002’s? Said that he hasn’t smoked one yet and wanted to share the joy with me!! I would be honered I said as he turned walked away. Cigar was great tasting with nice rich tobacco flavors.

Anyone tired anyone of the 2002’s? While we were talking he said they were never released and are a little smaller. Makes me want to go and buy some Serie R. I have to say it was a really nice cigar. I am really sorry that I don't have a camera that is worth taken pictures. I would love to have had some pictures of this time. What a nice day.

James.

I visted their factory in Miami a few weeks ago and posted a few photos. The Serie R is a great stick, I have not tried the one you smoked but a smaller version.

They are great sticks and I will be back there next week and will definately ask them about it, they are a quality stick and I will fire one up now, the girlfriend is working so Im enjoying a few cigars in her abscence with the dogs.

Very cool of that guy, welcome to the Serie R!

For sure and ask them about the 2002 Serie R Especiale, I seen what he was talking about online and from what I see it was not released until this special Hummi Set. I am going to be going crazy waiting LOL. However after the 06 I need to wait for a few days for sure LOL. Here is where I see the Hummi and wow 1999.00 and a few other sites have them at 2200 to 2500. http://www.pipesandcigars.com/lacuser.html

You scored something much better than a fine cigar. You may have made a new friend and smoking buddy. You can get a good cigar anywhere. A good friend and someone to smoke cigars with----priceless.

Echo that.

And I smoked my first Serie R Maduro last night, a #4. I told my wife I found another one that I really like. This is one that is definitely going into my rotation. Sounds like you enjoyed yours as much as I did mine. Thanks for the review.

My brother in law gave me half a box of Series R #6 Maduros.

I'm so glad I married into that family!

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tanz. You run into some really nice folks who smoke cigars and it appears you have a new friend. For some reason, the LGC Series R seems to bring folks together...

That is a great way to look at it and seeing we were able to talk about for the 2 1/2 hours about things we have in common. Was another part of a great day. The wait for the 02 makes my mouth water even thinking about it

Glad I was able to share a moment in a day that I will never forget. Great Cigar and Great Person.

Re: La Gloria Cubana Serie R Figurado 2006 Maduro

My B&M, Old Virginia, has that "box" your neighbors wife bought him.
It's a humidor that has 100 cigars from 2002-2006.
It's $2000!!!

The 2002 were never released to the pubic, only in these sets are they available.

You my friend will smoke something 99.9% of people will never smoke.
PLEASE take pictures and let us know how it tastes.

Great story... A gifted cigar is much more enjoyable then a bought one.

Smoked a Serie R the other day. Very nice smoke. Considering a box.
