Flor de A. Allones Prominente Review

I have been touting this line of cigars in general lately and thought it was time to do a specific review. I enjoyed this lovely cigar on my front porch with a J&B and soda. Nice combo. This cigar is dark and oily with a beautiful wrapper. Unlit aroma is earthy and deep. I clipped it and just drew some air through it, perfect draw and a rich, sweet taste. The first puff was really full and round, it filled my mouth and just seemed to expand. Rich leather and tobbaco with a little spice, not just pepper spice, but a more complex flavor. Too many of the current batch of "full" bodied cigars are just too peppery for my taste. The ash was a light gray and stayed intact more then half way down until I knocked it off before it could land it my lap. I got a nice buzz from this cigar which I smoked down to my fingers.

I really love this cigar. I almost hesitate to make the following statement, but this cigar comes the closest to a well aged/vintage Cuban cigar of any that I have tried. I have only been able to find them at JR and I get the impression that they are not being made any more. I keep buying more boxes of all of the sizes when I have the dollars as I also feel that this cigar will age well. They are very reasonably priced for what they are. One of the very best non-Habanos that I have tried.

Great review! I believe these were in the last Mike's Cigars catalog as well.

I just bought a box of Flor de A.Allones Bellicoso. I want to let them age six months --- but I doubt I'll have the willpower.

from what I understand, these cigars are still being produced in the Villazon factory (Honduras, maybe? not sure). The brand used to owned by Alfred Dunhill, but now is owned and distributed exclusively by JR Cigars (altadis)

This sounds yummy. We need more positive reviews, push-over-the-edge encouragements like these so we can have a good reason to stock up more cigars.

I may have to get a box of this FdAA Prominente to experience this well-aged Cuban stogies taste.

Looks like they just sell boxes. But a couple dollars cheaper than JR. Don't know about the shipping costs at this place.

Thanks for the link. They also have a couple of the sizes that are out of stock at JR.
