Joyo de Nicaragua Celebracion Review

Don't you just love it when a B&M ages a cigar for you before you buy it? Mind you this can be a good thing, or a bad thing, for that matter. If a B&M is aging a cigar that means that A: They suck and they can't move them, or B: they just don't sell, regardless of how good they are. I bought several Joyo de Nicaragua Celebracion Toros and Coronas just to see what they were like. Here's my review.

Construction: 9.2

These cigars look great. The wrapper is a nice shade of brown with no visible blemishes, veins or flaws. A really good looking cigar. Clipping the end off these was no problem, pre draw was nice and smooth.

Strength: 9.0

I was a bit leery of getting a Nicaraguan Puros like this since most that I have tried are very strong and spicy. This was neither and made it a nice pleasant surprise. These can be described as medium bodied in every sense of the word.

1st third of the cigar was very smooth but a little bland. Slightly woodsy taste did make it a bit interesting. Nice tobacco flavor throughout though. No burn issues at all on any. 8.2

2nd third of the cigar picked up some nice nuances, complexity is rising on these with hints of mustard, spice and cedar. Still a great tobacco flavor and still very smooth. No burn issues again. 8.7

3rd third of the cigar picked up some more spice but it did not overpower the cigar. Very pleasant part of the cigar as the flavors and nuances really hit home. Burn issues were non existent and really regretted nubbing these beauties. 9.1

Overall: 8.8

These are great smokes with a nice flavor, medium body, great construction. Only bad thing is that my B&M will not carry them anymore since they just don't move. I will buy them whenever I get the opportunity.

This is a wonderful aged smoke. I wait for boxes to go on sale and then put them away for storage. Eighteen months to two years gets them to where they shine.

The price/value ratio is untouchable.

JdN's are a staple in my humi, both the Celebracion and the Antano.....thought he Antano is certainly stronger in all regards, they also benefit dramatically, imho, from aging.

really, cuz I have about 1/2 a box left and havent had one in about three months. I have a box of the antano's too and they started to show potential and give up a little bit of their power after about 5 months. You know the last celebration I had was after another nicaraguan smoke(can't remember what it was now) but I really thought it tasted good. This surprised me b/c I didnt find them all that flavorful. I've been wanting an antano for about two weeks now.

Re: Joyo de Nicaragua Celebracion

nice review! i enjoy the churchill in this line - makes a great yardgar on the weekend after yardwork with some T&Ts... although, i would say the churchill, at least IMO, is more to the full-bodied end of the spectrum. these are fairly simple, direct smokes. not as a bad thing, mind you. also, construction is usually spot-on. i seldom have issues.

if you're looking for good box prices, call atlantic cigar. i say call them, dont visit website, cuz on the phone you will typically get a better deal!

Re: Joyo de Nicaragua Celebracion

The Celebracion and the Corona are in my drawer of "rotation" smokes. Just had one on the ride back from town, after a nice Lunch. GREAT smokes, reasonably priced and consistent quality.
