Re: Fresh-Rolled?
I smoked one last night. I got it on Cbid a few months ago.
This was the second one that I've smoked. I REALLY like them. I was totally surprised. When I lit up the first one, initially I thought it was flavorless, but after it got going I was really impressed. The one last night was a repeat of the first. It had, to me, a lot of flavor. It was not a strong cigar, but very tasty. I got a lot of spice tastes, and a very aromatic experience. The aroma coming off the cigar itself was also very pleasant. The draw was great. Open, but not too open. Great smoke production, very creamy. Construction very good. Nice reddish wrapper, 'rosado'?, pretty smooth with no big veins. The only problem with the second one I tried was that it needed occasional touch-ups from the lighter because of an uneven burn. BUT, I was driving at the time, and I have burn problems when driving about half the time. I think the cigar is a great value. I don't remember what I paid, but it was pretty cheap. |

Re: Fresh-Rolled?
I too had one yesterday, it was the Robusto size. However, unlike Xmodius, the cigar I had smoked had arrived in a fiver just the day before, so I'm assuming it was still very fresh, and the humidity not ideal. Going into the smoke I was skeptical because of how cheap they had been, as well as the "Cuban-wheels" in the title, which made it seem a little gimmicky to me. Regardless, I clipped the end, and noticed that it felt quite hard, with little give whatsoever. The draw was not tight as I had feared, but still slightly tighter than what I usually prefer, which I assume in part is due to little time spent in the humidor.
On to the actual smoking experience itself, (with my novice palate) I found that pre-draw it had a certain sweetness to it, which became even more pronounced throughout the smoke. It kept the sweetness for the first inch or so, before being joined by a slight spice that continued throughout the middle of the stick. At this point I focus on the quantity of smoke that the cigar is producing, I like a decent amount, and I like it thick . The amount of smoke that the cigar was producing was keeping me happy enough, although it seemed a bit "thin", and quickly being lost in the breeze, if that makes any sense. Towards the end of the smoke, it began to burn a bit hot, but even without more than one or two purges, kept on its sweet, almost Vanilla or Cream Soda-y flavor, backed by an ever growing spice that built up until the tips of my fingers were burnt, and I had to lay it down.Sorry about the length of this, and it lacking many details, my palate isn't nearly refined enough to pick out many of the nuances of this smoke; but since I smoked this down to under a 1/2", and I found it so enjoyable, I thought I ought to share even a novice's insight into (IMO) a great smoke that can be had for less than a dollar a stick. |

Re: Fresh-Rolled?
they are a pretty good smoke. I initially found them to be a little too green, but after just a few months in the humi they settle down a bit. They are somewhat "earthy", flavorful but not too strong or overpowering. Decent smoke for the money.

Re: Fresh-Rolled?
I have some of the Toro sized. They are not a bad cigar. I think they kind of surprised me by how they tasted when comparing to what I expected. Here's what I wrote for my tasting notes.
"Med to Full flavored cigar. Construction, burn, and draw were good. Flavor was good, not great, just good. Left an aftertaste on tongue. Overall, not a bad smoke for a cheap cigar. Buy again maybe. " I want to leave them set for a few months and see if they get better. I don't think I will get anymore but they're not dog rockets either.

Re: Fresh-Rolled?
I have a feeling that mine were not really 'fresh' but had a little age on them.
I did note a very pleasant aftertaste. Usually I don't really like an aftertaste very much. But, my palate is still larval.

Re: Fresh-Rolled?
I just finished one of these, and, while not fantastic, it definitely wasn't bad. A big smoke too, this would make a great camping cigar.

Just got a fiver of these from CBid. Torpedoes - they look and smell great! I will definitely have to have one tonight. I'll be back...

Re: Fresh-Rolled?
I'm presently sitting here with a perdomo fresh rolled that was part of a wheel I got in December from the devil site.
I smoked on the day that they arrived, it was great! I smoked one a few days later and stubbed it after less than one inch. Let them sit for 6 weeks and they are coming back strong. The flavor is a bit on the mild side, but the aroma is quite pleasing and it is wonderful through the sinuses. The burn on all so fa has been quite good. I think that it is a worthy NC to add to the rotation. |

Re: Fresh-Rolled?
I'm back! Smoked one last night and it was really really good! A lot of earthy flavors and leather but also a surprising amount of cocoa. The finish had a mineral component that I really liked and there was a mellow pleasant aftertaste.
I would classify this as the mild side of medium bodied. Not too mild, not too full, but just right! This is the first Perdomo I've really liked, most of the ones I've tried have an unpleasant charcoal flavor to me (what different palates pick up is a very interesting part of this hobby isn't it?). The flavor profile was very consistent through the whole thing with perhaps a bit more spice in the final third. I will have to see if the remaining four are as good as this one. If so - I will definitely need a wheel of these bad boys. At $8 for the fiver on Cbid I would classify this as a must try.
