Smoke what you like, like what you smoke. I've enjoyed most all the Gurkhas I've tried thus far.

Re: Gurkha Cigars - General Notes

I've found the "aged" Costa Rican wrappers to be the deciding factor on the Gurkha's I've liked. Or maybe it's a coincidence...

The Beast and Titan are fantastic, Black Puro, Triple Ligero, Doble Maduro and Signature 101 Maduro will always be stacked as deep as my humidor(s) can hold them and as long as I can get away with $5 or less each.

The Master Select, Grand Envoy, Centurion, Nepalese Warrior and Expedition weren't my style.

Re: Gurkha Cigars - General Notes

There was a Gurkha event at my local B&M and of the cigars I tried the shaggy was the only good one and its the only gurkha I will buy. If someone gives me some I'll take em but I wont go out of my way to buy them at the prices they ask

I rarely go below 50 ring but it's been my experience that, while larger gauges burn cooler, smaller gauges burn more evenly.

Thanks, massphatness. It's really a love letter to Gurkha as only fans can comprehensively criticize cuz they keep coming back. There's brands I like better but these regularly show up in my rotation. If I had to sell my sole for a single cigar, it would be a Oliva Serie V, any size.

Yep, I don't know if it's the aging or blending or both but I've had mostly tasty experiences with Gurkha.

You're probably right. I wonder if my box (60 sticks max) is too small. Maybe I should make a coolerdor?

They do a great job of marketing, but it takes more than slick names to keep me buying. I totally agree about the bands. You should be able to tell what stick you are smoking by the band alone.
Yes, it is hard to take a company seriously when they sell a $15,000 box with 50 cigars in it. They should throw in a Louis XIV brandy and a weekend at the Bunny Ranch for that kind of dough.

Re: Gurkha Cigars - General Notes

I am one of those people who cannot stop smoking Gurkhas. Granted, the best ones are the $1000 horribly overpriced blends, but on the devil site we are talking 20 sticks for $40. They are some of the worst and some of the best sticks I have ever smoked. My favorite blend is a 6x60 perfecto (dont remember the name, just the band) that I got off c-bid. Full of leather and black cherry, if you are lucky, otherwise its a bitter mess. They somehow keep me coming back though . . .
